And here's the news... apparently they are not dropping OGL 1.0a and will put the 5.1 srd under the creative commons.

Yes, they are leaving the 1.0a as is.

They (I think they already have) put the SRD (5.1) under the CC.

The Trolls are still removing the OGL.

Fool me once, shame on you; Fool me twice, shame on me.

They won't want to be stung again in the future.

And rightfully so. Wotc/Hasbro has proven to be untrustworthy.

Absolutely. I doubt any responsible business person will ever trust them again.

But I would say that if I were TLG I wouldn't rush to get some new edition out now. At least wait until the old stuff sells out and take your time getting it right. Personally, I have no interest in a new edition anyhow, as I like what I have, but I would think that this might take some of the urgency off to "scrub" the game. From what I've seen thus far online, some publishers are still going forward with new non-OGL products, some are going on as if nothing happened, and others are still weighing their options.

A new "edition" would break the promise of C&C.

As the trolls already stated all they are going to do is comb the books for what minuscule I.P. might be in there (there's almost nothing) and handle on the next printing for each book. There will be no new edition of C&C

That's what I meant by new edition. Something with all the AD&Disms scrubbed out, which is what they said they were in the process of doing in the Twitch a couple weeks ago. To me, if a bunch of spell and monster names are changed, it's effectively a new edition. They were also talking about changing character class names and doing other tweaks. The point is that there would seem to be less need to get that out fast now.

You won't even notice the changes. That's how minor it'll be. DEFINITELY not a new edition at all. They've never used the IP monsters like beholder and what not. Nor the proper name spells like Mordenkainen, et al. WotC coast owed almost nothing IP wise.

I thought I heard them say on the Twitch episode that there will be some type of key that notates the changes. That would save us a lot of time at the table.

Never heard it but like I said, you won't notice and it will cost no time at the game table.
