Was there ever any thing published in this magazine pertaining to the this setting?

I believe there was at least one article with Gary and Jeff Talanian talking about the process of putting together the Upper Works set. I can't recall if there was anything specific to Yggsburgh.

About the setting, specifically, not so much, but there were some interviews with Gary about general history of D&D and the "Castle." They would be in early issues. I'm thinking to #5 or so, max, but I don't recall.
