In this episode, the characters explored up to the fifth level of the tower. In the quarters level, they found a pitcher full of mixed potions, a glowing statue of a goddess called Assa, (of whom they are not acquainted.) I said the cleric worshipped her but that is not actually so. Though the gnomes are familiar with her. In one of the bedrooms a viper lay in wait for anyone poking around, and it bit the cleric, causing a few rounds of chaos before it was killed and eaten by the osprey. The bed in the room with the sumatran ghoul rat continued to burn as the party ascended the stairs.

Next level up, the party found a summoning circle with a burned book with a human face stretched over it, as well as 3 gnomes, dressed in black robes, who looked like they were thrown from the circle and scorched. In the middle of the circle was half of an imp, partially summoned from the floor. Trying to get the book, the illusionist/bard caused them to rise. Though the unhallowed area improved their abilities, the zombie gnome necromancers perished (again) quickly.

On the next level the party found a giant skull filled from discarded bottles labeled with various fruit juices and spirits, as well as a broken lute, a book of love poetry, and some "Dúidíns" pipes filled with intoxicating weeds. While exploring these things, the party found themselves under attack by 6 skeletal archers. Turning them failed, so the party had to fight them. The gnomes did an excellent job beating them with rakes and hoes while the party kept pressure on with their ranged weapons.

Exploring further, the party found 3 wolf puppies under a serving lid at a dinner table, as well as a chest with 13 gp and the Eyes of Doom.

58 xp each this session.

Another great session!

Btw, Penny ~ you had created a new char (barbarian) earlier in this thread. Do you still plan on running her?

XP posted on Roll20. I forgot to divide by 4 instead of 3, so you got a little extra, but I didn't account for all of the magic items you'll probably use, so it's fair enough.

Yep, gotcha. I prefer to have all players, but that I'm used to less on Nate's game night.

House rule for Class Abilities (not Racial Abilities):

I am adopting Stephen's rule with some modifications.
There is a new derived ability called "Essence". It is always exactly the same as your class prime ability score. It is always prime.
For any of your class abilities, if it calls for a certain stat in parentheses, use your Essence instead.
If you have multiple classes, each class will have its own Essence stat for its respective abilities.

(Why "essence"? It's your most essential class defining ability. But also so you don't have to say you are rolling Dexterity for Decipher Script)

Getting ready to continue the campaign. I was hoping by now to have the map moved to Worldographer so I could collapse the Xylh part into larger hexes for a much bigger continental map, but that isn't done yet.
No worries, because you are still in Burrowvia anyway.

I am going to allow classes from the Haunted Highlands player's handbook, as well as the variations mentioned for certain classes. You also can use classes from the book. That book's discouragement of multiclassing/dual classes is one I share, but you can still do it.

I'll get Scitzz a link to the campaign so he can gen a character, I'll try to get my rules in there if they aren't already. I think I was originally quite stingy, though in Roll20 you can see the fate points chart. I think he'll start out with a character in Burrowvia, which should be interesting; the character wouldn't know anything about Xylh or even much about the world outside the mist. On the other hand, would be able to answer some questions about the weird world you are in.

I considered switching entirely to Haunted Highlands and dropping Xylh, and that remains an option. I'd have fun either way, both have very similar assumptions. I do have a lot of material for Xylh ready though.

Days open are Wednesday nights or alternate Sundays after the Scandia campaign, let me know your preference.

Hmm, mebbe keep Xylh as the main world and drop HH modules or land areas into it.

In my world of Scandia/Aihrde/Greyhawk . . I have HH adventures and lands to the west of the Blacktooth Ridge!

Per the other thread/response ~ I'm OK with either day for gaming!

I don't have the HH PH, but so want to get it.

That said, I'll keep my chars from Xylh for now - but I will look through the modules for anything that I might use from NPCs to either change or tweak my char!

Zumbido as a witch. Does this look right to you?

I rearranged her attributes, took different spells and rolled HP on Roll20.

Zumbido, The Mad Witch of the Xaroco
61 years old
God: The Ravenlord
hired Aziz for the month (He is presumably eating her out of house and hold back in Xylh. Possibly partying with Hannah if she is in town. Fine. Just don't forget to water the flowers!)

STR 12
DEX 12
CON 13
INT 15 prime
WIS 17 prime
CHA 13 prime

2769xp (need 2800 for level 2)

HP 3

Spells
Zero 3 (2 can be wiz) open/close; detect magic; create water
First 3 (1 can be wiz) summon familiar; animal friendship; cackle of the hag queen

Will she be able to keep the the gift of Minor Dark Chaos from the Raven Lord?

Equipment (same as before)

backpack, belt pouch spell component, candle, waterskin, bag of dust, pot, quill, tinder box, vellum, wolfsbane, week rations, blanket, bulb of garlic. 5 vials holy water, torches, goblin-common dictionary, book of gnome love poetry, bottle skull juice, pitcher of stuff 5/8, teddy bear

Wearing (same as before)

soft boots, lightweight flowing trousers, tunic. lovely silk scarf to protect against the sun, a long necklace of colorful glass beads and charms, ivy and flower wreath in her hair, eyes of doom folded on her shirt collar, cape of the mountebank. The inside of her left arm bears sigils for each one of her magic spells.

Weapons (same as before)

1 dagger, Club/staff thingy. Short Bow. Quiver 30 arrows. +20 more arrows, wand teleportation

Check weapons vs. class list, any not on it are at a penalty (-4 to hit.)
You can keep the spell for now, but the Raven Lord may withdraw it for a witch spell.

Before Mercutio set off for home Zumbido asked if he would like to hear a story. She once trained a bard and as a grandmother she knew a tale or two.

The Chimera and the Desert Rat

A Chimera was awakened by a Desert Rat running right over his face.

"Insignificant vermin! How dare you show such disrespect?"

The humble Desert Rat bowed, "If you spare my life, perhaps someday I may repay your kindness."

The Chimera scoffed at the very idea but let him go.

Soon after the Chimera was caught by some adventurers. They bound him with strong ropes staked deep into the ground. They talked of enslaving him, putting him in a circus for all to mock. In despair, the Chimera let out a roar of defeat. But the Desert Rat heard the sound and recognized the Chimera's voice. Under cover of night he crept up and without a word patiently gnawed the ropes with his teeth setting the Chimera free. (One can only hope the Chimera found those adventurers as they slept and had himself a midnight snack.)

Zumbido: I see you look puzzled Mercutio but the point of the story is that even the tiniest Desert Rat can be as important as a Chimera. It is known.

Edit:

hahaha. According to Aergraith ...

Mercutio: I am puzzled, lady. That is not how the story goes. I do not know where you are from but over here, the Desert Rat gives the Chimera the middle finger.
