Gary Con!

Post by Treebore »

I have now paid for everything for going to Gary Con! Flight, room, rental car, badge, and even the official T-shirt! So total cost before food/gaming goodies is just under $500!

How many C&C fans will be there?

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Well, you know I'll be there ~ my 4th GC. My only question to you sir, is . . what's your favorite rum?? I'm bringing a bottle for ya, I'm sorry I forgot to bring one to TrollCON! :(

And, if you like beer . . New Glarus (local WI craft brew) is tops!!

Gold or Spiced Rums are my favorites. Over all I usually buy Bacardi.

That dark beer you mentioned earlier that I had at LGGC. New Glarus. Plus, I can't buy it here. It was really good. :)

I'll be there. Registration and room are all set. Just working on airfare, car rental, and coordinating the logistics of family visits, which are obligatory with a trip back to Wisconsin.

Rhu's right about New Glarus. So sad that they don't export.

Yeah...New Glarus is good stuff. I may have to bring a bottle of JW along, for medicinal purposes only, of course. :D

Woot! Looks like we can definitely squeeze in a game of C&C. I will also be running at least one scenario for Aces and Eights if anyone is interested. I have to look at my plane ticket again, but I believe I am staying until Monday if people are interested in planning anything for Sunday evening.

I do believe there are one or two with a "drinking problem" in the mix. Besides, this is the only game I am registering, I am definitely open to "playing by ear" sessions as well.

Tree and Jay, I'll be in the LeMans marathon session run by Mike Carr. Fantastic event last year. This year he's running a longer version, so teams are allowed. I had planned to drive the 9.5 hour event, but would be happy to have you guys as team mates. Pick and choose most anytime you want to drive, if you are interested. 1 hour, 2 hours or whatever.

Along with Circus Maximus, this is easily THEE best board game I've ever played.

FYI, another thing to try (short sessions) is the jousting tournament run by Paul Stormberg using Chainmail rules. Should be fabulous.

Otherwise, on Sat eve after the LeMans race - I'll be looking to tip a few with Tree, Jay and the rest of the gang.

:D

Just locked in airfare and a car. All systems are GO!

Rhu, that LeMans game looked pretty crazy last year. You guys sure looked like you were having fun! I won't know what I'll be able to join until I get there, unfortunately. I'll be meeting up with a few old WI friends, so activities will be more of a consensus deal. Some like to RP, some like to wargame and some just like to drink ;)

Anyone having trouble reaching anyone at the Lodge it's at to get a room? All phones ring busy constantly for me, and the 800 number is still broken. I even left a message Monday on the special Con number, and 5 days later I still haven't received my call back within 48hours it told me I would.

Gonna be cold sleeping in the rental car. Bring extra blankets.

So, just talked to my wife about going. She said I should. So there is an outside chance I can go. I need to get a few things lined up first. I'll know more by this weekend.

I'll be there, but trying to get ready in this hell hole is costing me (actually, it's my own lack of confidence that's dogging me). But I'm a gamer, no matter what.

Btw, ain't much of a drinkin' man anymore, but I do plan on packin' a bottle o' Irish. I like my dark brews as well. Never tried New Glarus, but best I've found is Warsteiner Dunkel. 1554 is good as well. And, of course, a pint o' Guinness is always tasty (forget that "draft" in the bottle, though - tame bite!).

Means frequent trips to the john for this old codger, but...
