Trouble staying logged in
Anyone else having trouble staying logged in?
For the old boards I was fine, on the new boards only problems.
* I clicked the "stay in forever" button.
* I clicked the "clear board cookies" link.
* I had my system clear internet cache and cookies.
Still, I find myself having to log in again every time I want to post or read a thread. Quite frustrating.
I'm finding it's taking me about 15-20 logins before I can get anything accomplished. (Changing my profile, posting, whatever.) I've been at this for about an hour and have managed 2 posts and have changed my password. No avatar yet, no signature yet, not much fun.
Just curious if others are having similar woes.

Fin,
If I close my browser and come back I do not login automatically. Perhaps something is set wrong. It's got to be cookie related.

Re: Trouble staying logged in
Some of the problems occur even if I don't close my browser. For example, after posting if I try to go to my User Control Panel, it'll probably ask me to log in again. (That's what happened when I started the thread.) Then, instead of going to the User Control Panel, it sends me back to the main index or asks for yet another login.
Quite strange.

Re: Trouble staying logged in
Alright I think I fixed it. That was my fault the cookie domain was set to the hostname of my desktop so there was no way for the server to use the cookie it was setting. It should now be giving out valid cookies with the www.trolllord.com domain and forums as the path.
Thanks for pointing it out! Squawk if you see anything else. [The Avatar issue needs to be decided by the Trolls... By default it was off in the base phhBB3 install.]

We can't do Avatars? I hadn't even gotten to that point, since it took me forever to log in and log in again.mgtremaine wrote:The Avatar issue needs to be decided by the Trolls... By default it was off in the base phhBB3 install.
Seemed to log in correctly this time, but I'll keep grumbling if it doesn't work...

Re: Trouble staying logged in
Anyone else seeing this also? I just tried it on a different computer with a different browser and it works as it should. That is a logged in clicked remember me then moved around, check user control panel, went back and finally closed the browser and then started it back up. It logged me in fine.
If you have not killed the cache and cookies again try that first. Or at least delete the bad cookies they are under the hostname ".vega" the new valid cookies should be http://www.trolllord.com with a cookie path of /forums
When I get home later today I'll fire up all the browsers so far I've only tried Firefox and Safari.
[Added: I fired up a WIndows 2000 Virtual Machine and tried IE 6... It worked with out a hitch also. I hate thinking Finarvyn is having troubles ]

Re: Trouble staying logged in
No problems here as of yet, but I haven't done a signature or anything else along those lines. In case it matters I use Firefox. Which I just updated yesterday.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Using Windows browser (7 I think) based on XP. Seems to be working for me now.

Re: Trouble staying logged in
My last visit or so has gone well. The only snags I seem to get right now are when I visit the User Control Panel, which I don't need to do often.
