Deities for Haunted Highlands

Post by Rigon »

Casey (or anyone interested), which deities would you suggest being available for the HH area. I know there are some coming down the pike, but unless they arrive in the next week, I'll not have much use for them.

While I'm not exactly sure what will be used, I've envisioned the use of nordic-style deities. Freya, Thor, Odin, etc. However, with what little we know about the ancient Umeshti civilization, I would think that they worshipped somthing not like the Norse pantheon. Maybe some long dead gods or somthing, possibly somthing Assyrian in flavor?

Of course, i would use gods like this, but change the names. I never liked using well known "real world" pantheons before.

We'll try to get these up early next week. I just now got the map files from Darlene for CZ and we'll be loading those up (hopefully) this afternoon.

Thanks,

Steve

Thanks Steve. I'm hoping to use HH when my old group gets back together again next weekend. So the sooner the better.

Post by Bowbe »

A quick preview of the names of deities

Bowbe (same as BG Bowbe) of course, and the monniker I use. Bowbe was a deity in my campaigns going back many many years. Barbarian deity of chaos, berserkers and vengence.

Soagoth: Wicked fibrous gibbering insane things.

Kyuleshedrac: Evil Dragons

Fythelee: Fairy Queen

Thayaleon: Elf Lord, consort of the Fey Queen

Vanium the Fearless: Paladin God, LG

Taxus: The pillar of the heavens. A law god.

Ataxus: Chaos God, Twin of Taxus.

Nartarus: God of the Walking Dead

Tokaladin: God of Magic

Riachee: The Rat King

Gathaak: Orc and Goblin God

Krannough: God of the Dwarves

Jokashka: Witch Queen, an opposite to Fythelee

Shambere: Assassins

Kharzarn: Slavers and punishers

The Khan: Mercenary war god

That is all for now

Thanks Casey. If the PDF isn't up by the time I need it, this list will help me out tremendously.

What about the deities? No news about the pdf? I am going to start a new campaign with the Haunted Highlands (and, btw, excellent little product!)

Cheers,

Antonio

I plan on transplanting the Haunted Highlands in my Greyhawk/Yggsburgh campaign, using the Tenoric (Norse/Teutonic) deities instead. Just picked up this module and so far I really like what I read! Great job, Case!

Maybe TLG is considering putting out a HH supermodule / mini-campaign setting? Casey and other have said that a "bunch" of the modules are already done, just waiting on artwork and editing. You never know...

Don't know here either whats up with the DL either. I know Peter is quickly working on artwork for 2-3.

#2Crater of Umeshti and #3the Deeper Darkness.

The artwork bits I have seen have been killer. Peter is really pulling out all the stops on these. Can we say Ashley as cover model for DB3? I think we can.

I know that Steven and the boys are super busy too... I've been polishing the Dro Mandras books...namely some really REALLY cool RP/Plot twisting adventures for the first Dro Mandras book. I can update you on these a little bit.

First Dro Mandras Book should be titled "Dro Mandras" simple enough. and It should be #4 in the series.

#5 will be "The Conquered East" and details the fallen East Dro Mandras and its occupying forces. Trench battles, siege equipment, siege tunnels, and shops and homes converted into prisons, torture houses and charnel houses transformed into ubiquitos factories for the churning out of undead levees to keep Yorgach's war machine rolling along. Lots of good stuff where heroes or villains can be made.

4 and 5 are taking a bit of time because I am writing them side by side along with a third book for the DB line. It drives everyone nuts but thats how it works. I get about 3-4 manuscripts done and turned in at once. Of course I do this for continuity between books so that missions and side plots can dove tail with one another from book to book.

Getting to #6, #7, #8. One or the other will be a campaign book of sorts for use with the HH setting. I can't really lay out exactly what yet as I have a couple such campaign books planned.

One will be similar to DB1 HH, but take place more in the Duchy of Karbosk. Tentative title is "Karbosk" with the secondary monniker of "Villages and Ruins" It covers the Western Villages and Eastern Ruins. with some detail.

One returns to the Crater of Umeshti and I can give you the title: "Dwellers of the Darkness" as it comprises the domociles of 4+opposing nations that dwell beneath the earth, all with direct ties to the infamous Crater and some with decided ties to the surface world as well.

It sorta depends on which of the 3 gets finished first, 2 are pretty well written in however.

Still in the outline/mapped, needing manuscript phase (So titles tentative) are

Secrets of Ayman Jymoon

Fortress of 100 Heads

and several others.

I'm digging writing this stuff and want to keep on expanding for as long as Steve/Davis and the boys (And all of YOU)keep asking for them!

Hopefully this gives everyone a heads up for at least 8 more books in this series and some hints to several others.

Case

Steve's putting the legal beagle together for the HH Dieties document at present, so it should be up within the week?

Wow, Case, this whole outlines does sound frick'n awesome! I really hope we get to see these new books within the next year. Great news. Haunted Highlands is pretty damn cool, and really only scratches the surface... I had no idea how deep this setting was to go, so far I like... A LOT.

No offense to the talented Mr. Bradley, but it looks like it's time for the trolls to hire up a few more artists.
