Planar Book?

Post by zacharythefirst »

I was catching up on old posts, and noted that back in 2019 there was talk of a Planar Book on the schedule. A search didn’t bring up any sort of Kickstarter info or anything (though I know that wouldn’t be the exact title)—is this project still in the works?
Come, my friends,
'Tis not too late to seek a newer world.
Push off, and sitting well in order smite
The sounding furrows; for my purpose holds
To sail beyond the sunset, and the baths
Of all the western stars, until I die.

I believe Steve referenced it in one of his nearly weekly "Ask Me Anything" sessions on TWITCH. Your best bet is probably to log in one of these weeks and ask him directly. Of course they've always got a ton of things in progress which seems to slow all of them down so I wouldn't expect it anytime soon.

Will do—just subscribed to the Twitch channel, so I’ll try and seek out an answer there next time they are on.

Who's Planes? Historic ones? fantasy worlds or just Airdhe?
Wow, Another Natural One! You guys are a sink hole for luck. Stay away from my dice.

My guess would be something like Manual of the Planes, but general planar info for C&C. I’m not sure, though.

I love stuff dealing with the Outer planes in general, but I'm skeptical based on what the Trolls came out with in the Tome of the Unclean. I might harp on this a little, but I really think they missed a huge opportunity with this one. If they KS it, I'll pass.

Yeah, Tome of the Unclean was a mixed bag for me as well. I always love having new devils and demons. But there was a quite a variation in them in terms of quality/power level. And there was too much lore for me, some of which contradicted itself within the same entry. I did like the color map of the Hells they included with the KS. But I doubt I'd invest in a planar book. Like with the various Codices, there would likely be lots of stuff I'd never use. Nowadays I try, though I don't always succeed, to just invest in stuff I know I'll get a fair amount of use out of.

It's hard to beat the original Manual of the Planes. I just reference that and adjust for current campaign world and game system (C&C in this case) as it is not a book the players know is in use anyway.

There is info on the places in Codex of Erde (TLG 1000) and in Codex of Aihdre (TLG 81261)

No. That book is nearly complete garbage.

The section on the planes in the Codex of Aihrde was interesting and well-written. If they put out a book extrapolating on that section I'd be interested.

I'm with Serleran; I recall that book being disappointment
