Re: GM Sale ongoing
Really good deals, but I'm not a huge an of pdfs. Anyone got any advice on supplements that are good in this format?
Re: GM Sale ongoing
Yes, same here. I like PDFs for certain, less often used items and reference material, but in a perfect world, would much rather have hard copies. Unfortunately my budget is a bit restricted.docdoom77 wrote:Really good deals, but I'm not a huge an of pdfs. Anyone got any advice on supplements that are good in this format?

I like both. Pdf is really nice when an rpg product goes out of print, and the Ebay and Amazon scalpers want a pretty penny whether it's worth that much or not.

I like PDFs as backup for hard copies of monster manuals and modules. The PDFs let me print off copies of monster photos and maps.

I use PDF's for everything. In process of creating internal links throughout the PHB. Much faster than using dead wood version.tylermo wrote:I like both. The 3 Dungeon series booklets are good to have in PDF.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Re: GM Sale ongoing
I don't mind pdfs for the little stuff like modules and whatnot. Buy them for a couple of bucks then have em printed at Staples. Still pretty reasonable. I did the Dungeon Engineering, Castle Engineering, and Dark Journey and it still cost me less than 20 bucks to have them on paper and in my DM binder. Considering that to buy just one of these at a game shop here would have probably been, rock bottom, 8.99 plus tax, I think I did ok.
I'd rather have a nice hard copy of the actual books, like PHB and CKG, but pdf-and-print-locally works for most of the other stuff IMO.

Are those from the Trolls? Not sure what I'm doing wrong but I don't see those.Treebore wrote:The 3 Dungeon series booklets are good to have in PDF.
Re: GM Sale ongoing
You posted above that you got two of them printed out. Engineering Dungeons as well as the Castle one. I consider the Arms and Armor booklet to be the third in that series, even though I guess I shouldn't since its a different author and it doesn't even have Engineer in the title.Shadowslayer wrote:Are those from the Trolls? Re: GM Sale ongoing
Here is another one to have in PDF, so if you give any of it to the players you can give them a print out a bit easier than scanning, etc...
http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/product/6 ... h=255_8288
Of course, having the Castles Keepers Guide as well as the CKG for the Haunted Highlands are also good ideas for much the same reason as well as copy/pasting the rules you use out of either of them straight into your house rules documents.
The Magic Items in either Monsters and Treasures book make those good candidates too, same for "Of Gods and Monsters" along with the spells that book has. So its a matter of how easy do you want it to be to copy/paste all that info into player documents or house rules documents as well as how much money you have to spend on it all.
Of course the 30% off makes that all a little less painful right now.
Now I have to go figure out why the Book of Familiars PDF doesn't show up as owned by me. I could have sworn Tim sent it to me, but maybe not as a DL from Drivethru because of an issue...

I love Engineering Dungeons, Engineering Castles, and Castellan's Guide to Arms and Armor (the three I think he means), but I love Towers of Adventure even more. Check it out!Shadowslayer wrote:Ah ok I got you. I thought you were talking about something different that I hadn't heard of.Treebore wrote: You posted above that you got two of them printed out. I don't know if it makes me weird, but I have a very hard time reading a rulebook straight through when it's in pdf format, but I love having them when they are bookmarked and searchable with CTRL-F after I've been able to interalize the dead-tree version.

Me too, exactly. I'll always prefer the physical book, but a searchable PDF can be really handy for reference.NJPDX wrote:I don't know if it makes me weird, but I have a very hard time reading a rulebook straight through when it's in pdf format, but I love having them when they are bookmarked and searchable with CTRL-F after I've been able to interalize the dead-tree version.
Re: GM Sale ongoing
While I definitely prefer dead tree books (especially for rpgs), you can't get around the portability of PDFs. And I love my Kindle for reading.
