Umbrage Saga

For a thousand years the horned god ruled from his throne in the great towers of Aufstrag. Shaped in mockery of the Great Tree, Aufstrag lorded over the kingdoms of man, elf and dwarf and its master, Unklar, ruled with his iron mace. But time swept him away and into the Void, and upon the ruins of his dark memory new kingdoms have risen, a new world born. An age of heroes is begun, where adventuring crusaders ride forth into the wilderness to reclaim it through the iron in their veins, and the magic they too control.

But memories run deep and the stain of Unklars reign is not so easily rooted out. His minions haunt the dark places of the world. They occupy forgotten temples, ruined dungeons, castles on the borderlands; from these bastions they plot the return of their horned master, or at the very least, the terror of men. Here evil resides, and thrives; treasures abound, hidden magic lies unused and forgotten.

There is perhaps no greater bastion for the refugees of Aufstrag than the lands south of that fated tower. The Blacktooth Ridge dominates the country, jutting out from the southern foothills like a finger pointing to Aufstrag. Beneath it flows the slow moving, dark Hruesan River and beyond those banks are the Lands of the Barren Wood and west of it all the Blighted Screed. These lands rest upon the Northern Marches of the Kingdom of New Aenochia, and the few towns that are here, Botkinburg and Ludensheim, lie on the very edge of civilization. These lands are a Wicked Cauldron of desperate evil.

Here adventure abounds, for the Empress has called a Crusade to root out all the evil that hounds her northern domains. Wealth and bounty are promised, and land and title for those so interested. In these twisted woods and in the Shadow of the Great Tree begins the Umbrage Saga.

Adventure to the Wicked Cauldron, begin play at 1st level and run the gauntlet of adventures from the following adventures: A0 Rising Knight, A1 Assault on Blacktooth Ridge, A2 Slag Heap, A3 Wicked Cauldron, A4 Usurpers of the Fell Axe and the A5 The Shattered Horn. This box set also includes an adventure previously published only in PDF, some new encounters and a more concise history of the great horn and the region.

All you need to start a wild adventure of C&C fun lies in the adventures contained here, in the Umbrage Saga.

Terrific, I'm running through Assault On Blacktooth Ridge right now. I bought Slag Heap in pdf, but at $20 for all that printed makes it cheaper than buying the rest of the pdfs. Sold!

I pre-ordered the PHB, would this be added to that if I pre-ordered? I just don't want to get dinged twice for shipping.

The Rising Knight was what really brought me to C&C in the first place - I already have A0-A5 on PDF, but it'll be good to have these modules in my hands.

Apparently, the two Blacktooth PDFs are now in print an in the compliation, an extra 10 new encounter areas in the various places the adventure takes place in, and a couple of area maps which may be different from those we have already seen.

Oh... and a box.

As someone who has also bought all the mods, I would have hoped there was a separate book with all this stuff. Even if that book were $8, I'd be happy to buy it.

Put my pre-order in yesterday.

Already own A1-A5, but the maps were probably the seller for me as I plan to run an online game later this year!

Plus I can keep everything in its separate box when I travel.

Okay, so let me get this straight.

This product is a re-packaging and re-releasing of

-- A0 Rising Knight (which was at one time a free download adventure)

-- A1 Assault on Blacktooth Ridge

-- A2 Slag Heap

-- A3 Wicked Cauldron

-- A4 Usurpers of the Fell Axe, and

-- A5 The Shattered Horn

plus an adventure previously published only in PDF,

plus 10 whole new encounters,

plus a more concise history of the great horn and the region,

plus an area map for Airhde and New Aenoch,

and an area map for the Hrueson River

And a box.

Why would people that already have adventures A0 thru A5 buy this boxed set? For one previously pdf-only adventure, 10 whole new encounters, a re-write of the back story and two new maps? Amazing!

And here I thought re-packaging and re-publishing stuff that folks already had copies of was backward thinking.

I take it these maps are redone and will accurately show the whole area for the first time? Meaning all the inaccuracies are now accurate?

Steve's been sending me updates and adjustments for that particular section. I just draw what I'm given. The map will have the same level of detail as is in the C series module Darkenfold map though.

Hehehe... I had the same question when I called to place an order for some other stuff earlier in the week. More importantly, I asked if this material was going to be released in a separate booklet like the inclusion of an extra book in the first box set compilation that Goodman Games released a couple years back.

Steve had indicated that the new material was rather small but that there would probably be a PDF of the previously unseen material after the release of the set. Or at least that was the impression I got.

Seriously, I think this is a great deal for those that haven't really bought into the the modules that have come out for C&C or those who haven't bought this particular series. Though I might be tempted to get it as a collector, I'm in certainly no rush to get it either but the price is right if I did.
