Southern Reaches Guide

Post by Akrasia »

I asked about this already (http://www.freeyabb.com/phpbb/viewtopic ... ames#85565), but I don't think that my question was clear enough.

Will there be both Players' and a Judges' Guides for the Southern Realms? If so, will they be available around the same time? (This would make sense, for people who want to run a game in the region! On the other hand, I would be equally happy if only one guidebook were to be published, and it would suffice for campaigns set in the Southern Reaches.) And finally: is there any ETA for the Southern Realms guide(s)?

Thanks!

Akrasia,

As usual, you hit the nail on the head.

The original plan was for there to be a Player's Guide and a Judge's Gazetteer. As I was writing the Player's Guide and compiling the necessary information for the Gazetteer, I came to the conclusion that frankly, only a single product is really needed.
Wilderlands fans are not interested in the breezy kind of general informative Player's Guides that most product lines have, and, with my decision to eliminate required canonical new classes and cut back on races that were significantly different by rules, the really "crunchy bits" that would have differed from standard Castles & Crusades play were, well, not necessary.

So here's where things stand now. Each Region will get a 48 page Gazetteer. Each entry will have information listed in such a way that the info most readily available to Players is listed first and separate from the core Judge's information. That will make it easy for a Judge to present information to Players quickly and easily.

There are a few sections of the Player's Guide, such as Class information and extensive name lists for various cultures, that will be made available FREE on the AGP website.

The subscriber Campaign Installment is now the single Gazetteer. Gazetteers retail separately at $16, and include the map; thus, subscribers essentially get the map for free, as the sub price was based on the $12 non-map price of the Player's Guide. And now there won't be a non-subscriber product to purchase to have everything related to a specific region; it will all be in one book, with supplementary information online.

Exactly.

Thanks for your reply, James. A single 48-page gazetteer for each map sounds a lot more manageable, and certainly adequate for the Wilderlands.

Will the next product to be mailed to people who have AGJ subscriptions be the Southern Reaches Gazetteer?

So I have James's kick-ass Southern Reaches map. Was the guide ever released?
