Awesome! I was really looking forward to seeing the xp this week!
Last time our xp came from a lot of treasure with a little bit of fighting. This week it came from a little bit of treasure with a lot of fighting. It is good to see how they compare in order to know where most of our xp comes from.
It turns out that they are weighted fairly evenly, although with the fighting part carrying just a fraction more.

I actually expected all of that fighting would have been worth very little but it is good to see my assumptions were wrong. I think that even though the dungeon has got much more dangerous, it is still a good idea for us to keep trying with it. As long as we live long enough, that danger will get us to the level we need.
It seems better than trying to take on an army of trolls at any rate.

EDIT: Scratch that, I misread the whole thing and thought we got 1000 more than we did. Treasure brings a lot more xp to the table than fighting does.

Egar is in favor of facing the army of trolls, if only because they might have a hoard of magical weapons. Because Orcrist.

I do like the sound of a hoard of magical weapons, but Trolls are so far out of our league.
We might be able to take about 3 of them at once if we were really lucky, but I imagine there are probably dozens of them.

Trolls are 6-9 HD and have 4-5 attacks. I think even taking 3 on at once would be pushing it.

I listened to it but I have to say I followed it immediately with "Dancing Queen". So I am not sure if I still get the XP.

I don't know, but I'll probably have a stack of freshly printed character sheets and my dice ready...

I imagine he is probably pretty happy with that decision at this point. I mean we have only had to run from a single encounter, so things are obviously going fairly well without the upgrades from all of that crap.
I am still worried about the future though...

Anyway, looking forward to the game following the next one! Egar will be level 5 and we can perhaps consider heading to that area we ignored in the Mouth of Doom (he will be able to remove diseases at that level).

Overall I'm pleased with the decision. My goal was (is) to preserve the adventure in its original framework as much as possible. This admittedly also saves me the work and time that would be required to change the stats and threat levels if a CKG options game was used.

The party has done quite well so far, no doubt due to your collective experience as well as a bit of good luck.

I am, hopefully, presenting Rappan Athuk in the most genuine way possible, as I would like you all to be able to have a chance at going through this legendary "Granddaddy of all Dungeons" (and to survive it, possibly). :)

Of course, this assumes the party continues to explore said dungeon and doesn't go off in another direction, but if that happens it's fine with me. ;)

I'm happy with it too, and I approve of experiencing it as intended. I was mostly thinking of the idea that we were thinking it was "too easy".

I think you all have been smart to build up your characters' experience before heading to the Mausoleum. The funny thing is, now that you've reached the Mausoleum, you all weren't willing to enter it, though arriving by accident and having a split party didn't help either.

I kinda did; I wanted to clear out one charnel house and see how we did from there, use it as a forward base.

We are willing to enter it, there just isn't much point in doing so if we don't at least have a cart with us. We wouldn't be able to cart out the treasure we found, so we would be risking our lives for nothing.

Or we flag down a ship and give them 5% to take us and our treasure back. If they attack us we keep the ship.

So after careful planning, I have come up with this plan of attack in order to both acquire as many useful teleporters as we can and get the statues out of there so we can save them at a later date:

Pick up 13A and take it to Mausoleum via 13B. Transport 13A to 5B via 8A (At Mausoleum).
Pick up 5B and transport both it and 13A to Castle Calaelan via 5A - 4A - 2A - 1A (and a long walk).
At Castle Calaelan, use 5B to go to 6A. Take 6B to 11B. Take 11A to 8C.
Pick up 8C, and transport it to 11A via 8B, Pick up 11C and transport both it and 8C to Castle Calaelan via 11B - 6A
Take 8C - 11A - 12A - 7B. Transport a statue to Castle Calaelan via 7B - 12 A - 8C. Repeat until all of the statues have been moved.
Take 8C - 11A - 12A - 7B - 2B -1B - 3A. Pick up 3A and transport it to 6A via 5B.
Pick up 6A and transport both it and 3A to 11B. Leave 3A in room 11, transport 6A to Castle Calaelan via 11A. Return to room 11 via 8C.
Pick up 11A and transport it to 1A via 3A. Leave it there.
Take 1B - 2A - 2B - 4A. Pick up 4A, transport it to 1B via 4B - 8B - 11B - 3A. Pick up 11A and transport both it and 4A to Castle Calaelan via 1A (and a long walk).
Take 1B - 2A - 7A (and a long walk). Pick up 7A and transport to 1B via 7B - 12B - 12A - 11D - 3A.
Take 1B to 2A. Pick up 2B and transport both it and 7A to Castle Calaelan via 2A - 1B - 1A (and a long walk).

Acquired Teleporters:
2B-4A-7A: Both 4A and 7A lead to 2B with return trips.
5B-6A-8A: Both 6A and 8A lead to 5B with return trips; 8a currently resides near the Mausoleum.
8C-11A: Lead to one another with return trips.
11C-13A: Lead to one another with return trips.
