Penny, would a goblin cleric be a "shaman" or "witch doctor" in this game?

Go with whatever class name you like. We are truly making this stuff up as we go along.

The war pig might be an excellent buy for your character. Because this is a game that emphasizes raiding I will be noting encumbrance. Right now your weapons and armor equal 9 so you won;t be able to carry anything back without slowing your comrades down. Unless you find a cart ....

The more I think about it the more I am digging the war pig.

Speaking of which ... Rhuvein you will need to invent a neutral or good god that you get your powers from.
Since you are part shaman I will give you the war pig as a spirit companion rather than a riding beast.

Because the song War Pigs and Larry is my bnrother's name

Whoa, I haven't listened to this song in ages.

[Aside, Kohl's is featuring VINYL!! for the holidays. Albums for $30!!! Fagetaboutit! Sheesh, I paid $3 up to $7 when I stopped buying. I know peeps collect old time vinyl and I hope to unload my 900+ albums on ebay soon. Lastly, no Black Sabbath had come in, as yet]

Chaotic good. Follows Maglubiyet (Greater god) and Khurgorbaeyag (lesser) ~ from the AD&D 2nd E Monster Mythology book. I just choose their names and don't necessarily follow of the detail pertaining to them in the book.

Edit: and I don't follow their alignment or mebbe we can pretend that they are choatic neutral or good!

Sure! That works. I am going to add in one more feature. As a shaman rather than a cleric you have access to all the cleric spells. That is, you don;t have to memorize a spell to use it. You will have the same limits to how many spells you can cast.

11 4 2018 The (failed) wooing of Dharva

Captain Stuebing collects us and pile us into the Mermaid, where the villagers see us off on our way. It is a good trip, so many are in a good mood. Zumbido is cooking. On day 7 there is a cold snap which finds her chasing those seeking heat from the kitchen. She is also learnig some Goblin and Draconic. Jaques is whittling Bas relief art. There is a large fleet leaving, looking well armed, and possibly escorting merchant ships. They seem to head south, Stubing hopes they are not heading for Xylth. He lands us at dock and says he will wait a week for us. It is the 3rd of Pyanepsion .

The town is not a lot to look at, but there are many nobles. A road winds up a hill to a great Marble building, the vault, in Ignea. We are here to find the key of Mnemnok Lords.

From Beldiths speech:

She says to the party that she couldn’t have found a better group had she selected them individually, and goes on to say things about each.
Ayn: “A monk and assassin unknown to anyone in this land, with the appearance of a small and perhaps harmless gnome. Able to infiltrate and disable without carrying a weapon or drawing attention.”
Jacques: “Every heist needs a burglar, and your healing may come in handy if things go wrong. But it’s your love of the sea which may come in handiest at first.”
Lissett: “A paladin in a heist? Some would not see the need, when deceit rules the day. But our quest is worthy and sometimes those we deal with require convincing, either by speech or by blade.”
Omad: “Every heist needs muscle, but what’s more, someone who can draw on his skills of survival and perception to get us to our target. We may have need of both.”
Triss: “A master of the wild, and the sacred mysteries of nature. Not a usual part of these jobs, I’ll admit to you, but this is not like other jobs.”
Zumbido: “You are the team’s wildcard. When things go wrong, we sometimes need to call on something unexpected that our foes did not account for.”
She the lays out The Plan. She has sketches and maps of the vault, and goes over each area and assigns each of the 6 characters a job.
0. Sign in counter – Lissett or Beldith needs to convince the functionary to let them in in the first place, and create a distraction so the others may follow.
Once there, Zumbido is to access the treasure catalog, which will give them the location to the proper vault. Jacques must smuggle any tools the group needs inside, past the wand of magic detection.
The floors of the grand vault are known to be trapped during certain hours. Ayn or possibly Jacques must deal with these traps if required.
There are creatures who guard some of the vaults, many of them too powerful to fight head on, but if required, Omad and Lissett can lead the way in tactically dealing with them. In addition there are many patrols of human guards who need to be avoided or otherwise gotten through. Perhaps creative use of poisons and potions could help too, which Ayn or Zumbido could provide.
There are puzzles when we reach our goal, but you can leave those to me.
I should also add, we may not be the only person after this ``. Another reason for hiring adventurers instead of specialists. I think you should be able to call upon all of your resources in this mission.
It goes without saying, I think, we don’t want to do harm to these guards unless necessary. Non-lethal solutions are greatly preferred.
Ayn has an insight. A lot of these nobles are walking around with money in their pocket have been in the bank. So Lissette asks around how deposits work at the bank etc. She tries to find the friendliest looking one and says hello. He looks down his nose a little at her but doesn’t completely assume her position, then bows and points his servant to the side.

“Sargon the 4th at your service.”

Eventually he reveals Fenula at the front desk is humorless, and even called the guards on him once for a +1 pocket knife. A couple were in the front room. Some are caravaneers working part time in the lobby, but inside the vaults is well guarded, even by the undead. They usually have someone carry your items. No weapons past the lobby.

So Omad and Lissete walk into the lobby. High ceilings on a well appointed marble room. A desk blocks a hallway with a bored looking girl. A couple of possible wizards drink wine on one side, a noble and his servant on the other side, and a few guards scattered about. Behind the bored girl is a severe looking woman. Couches and chairs are around the room, an ornate rug leads to the desk.

Iissete advances to the girl. She announces we are here to make a deposit. “number please.” Lissete writes it down and passes it to her. She heads back and another woman comes to the counter, searches our faces, and says “Nice day isn’t it?” Lissete is dour with her answers and Omad begins to hit on her. He can’t tell if he is getting very far. Finoula returns and tells us we must wait for the wizards.

A woman comes out and gives the wizards a small money sack, and they hand over their backpacks, drain their wine and leave.

The we are led back. Dharva opens the door for us. She thanks us for using the bank, and learns we have not been here before. She asks us not to look or enter other rooms. She warns disturbing things we might see are security and warns we may feel slight disorientation. She goes into a room we are barred from by 2 guards. , and a skull gives her the information she needs concerning the location of our box. Triangle apple pear nine house are the coordinates.

She leads us to a room with 2 guards and their state of the art teleportation circle and invites us to enter. She recites the coordinates, the circle lights up, we feel a queasy feeling as the world ripples around us, and we are transported somewhere dark. Guards light torches for us, then leads us to a room with tables, lamps and candles, plus a letter with the contents of a chest, and guards will wait outside with her. She asks us to hand over our magic items if we are carrying any and we do, and tell her we are leaving one there.

She leaves us in the room with a chest from Fizzbain. Inside are several items with tags on strings attached identifying them.

Helm of Zainars scholarly enlightenment.
Small stone, kablashan of abnar the fortunate.
Treatise on the alacrity of movement and related kinetics.
Living ring of the great druid zamalon
A well made chain shirt of manadars salvation
leather armor magical armor
A rapier looks very well made, glowing blue in the box, inscribed with Repartee
A necklace of respiratory refreshment.

We take it all and deposit the glasses of doom.

Lissete signs off that we took it.

She warns us of being in the halls, especially after hours, and Omad asks if she is often found here after hours, but she says she is usually at the inn, and he asks if he can find her there tonight? “Not if I see you coming” is her reply.

She asks if we would like to make a deposit, minimum is only 10K gold.

In the lobby the nobleman is waiting still, impatiently. “Took you long enough” “What were you depositing, your life savings?”

Omad replies “Just your mothers underwear.” The noble has his servant flip him off.

So, we make our way to the local inn, called The Flying PigKeeper Tavern. Jake greets us and shows us to a private room we can eat and examine our items. He takes our orders. We ask if he keeps pigs but he just thought it was a funny name.

Zumbido slides on the helm of scholarly enlightenment. She feels a little different while she wears it. She opens her goblin dictionary and finds she understands it all. Ayn hands her the treatise and it takes 2 days of reading to increase dex by 1 permanently. Ayn takes the book and begins reading. We discuss our plans.

Dharva has arrived with her friends for quiz night, so Zumbido sends her familiar Vinegar Tom over to her table to eavesdrop. We all grab a table to engage in the trivia contest. We use the answers that Tom is gleaning from her table. Our plan is to get close to her, get a personal item of hers, make a love potion, and use her to get us straight to the treasure we seek. We lose to them by ONE POINT!

Zumbido buys them a round and Jake brings us a round as well. Dharvas team comes and shakes hands with us. She is part of a sisterhood called the Mord Sith. Zumbido and her begin to really hit it off and make a trade of a book(dictionary) for a set of fresh water pearl ear rings.

11 18 18 Wooing Dharva and book keeping

We spend the night at the inn and the next day have breakfast. With the day ahead of us, Zumbido decides to brew a draft of love. We decide to try to slip it to her that evening at the inn if she shows up .

Then we go to the market place. We want to identify the rest of our items that were left to us. We know they are magic. We go to Lassens wondrous wands. He is a short man who can barely see over the counter. There is a small dragon skull hanging over his hearth. Omad barters with him, and he wants 100GP per item. Ayn chips in 125 GP, Lissete, Triss and Zumbido do same. We go for lunch as he spends time identifying them.

The stone is a stone of good luck, +1 on saves and siege checks
The ring is very valuable, a ring of animal friendship.
Chain Shirt is +2 armor
Leather is +2 armor
Rapier is a +2 rapier

We sell some old magic stuff. IT is still morning when we are done.

Iram and Zogul are walking towards the vault (magicians from yesterday) with nags in their hands, we suspect these are the days fresh wands of magic detection. Ayn follows them.

Iram is mad at Zogul for stealing the doughnut with sprinkles AGAIN. Then he is mad for him hitting on the peasant girl he likes. They speak of getting new jobs instead of enchanting things they could go adventuring. They argue that it is the others turn to wake their boatswain up when they get back to it. As they pass by others those others tend to shy away as if they think these 2 are a couple of dickheads. Ayn skips back to the party and relays what she has learned. They come in by boat and usually take this route.

We encoutner Sargon again who bows and sweeps his hat for Lissete and asks about her feelings of the little burg. They banter a little and he says he has the finest room at the flying pig and can be called on there at need. She does not take this well and pulls a sword on him to have him skitter away. Ayn fans her hand in front of her face, and wonders if such a swain would be so smitten with her.

Zumbido takes a walk with Triss, Jaques, and Omad to the forest. Ayn returns to the inn to read the treatise. Omad begins looking for signs of boar and Triss looks for berries, which are found in abundance. We are able to find a feral boar. Triss begins by feeding them and then uses the ring of animal friendship. The razorback is now friends with Triss! It is a very large creature, very aggressive and ornery with twilight vision. Eventually it should even be able to learn tricks. Triss names him Brute’ (2HD medium sized creature) When they get back to the tavern he is kept in the stable. The inn keeper feeds him leftovers from under the bar first. Omad orders a round and tips generously for Ouzo, and Zumbido buys the inn a round of copper rails. Ayn hears the noises and heads down to join her friends. Omad approaches with Jaques at his back. He orders the top shelf drink Dharva likes the best, fornication on the sand, for 6 SP. He turns from the bar and gives the knowing look to Jaques, who, with a nod and a wink, empties the potion into the drink. Omad approaches and hands her a drink and proposes a toast to repairing friendships. She takes the drink and drinks the toast as he stares intently at her. She begins playing with her hair and smiling, even giggling occasionally. He makes a few very corny jokes to test it out and she laughs. She introduces him to all her friends with bumpkin names, but they seem like good people.

(Libre office lost some notes)

Ayn and Zumbido tag teamed the magicians on the way to work in the morning. Zumbido made fog while Ayn distracted them with ghost sounds. Ayn danced in front of them and asked them to dance with her as they passed but they ignore her.

(Back to real time notes)

Omad meets Dharva at a little cafe close to the vault. Omad recites a poem

I have born the anguish of love, which ask me not to describe
I have tasted the poison of absence, which ask me not to relate
Far through the world have I roved, and the length I have chosen
A sweet creature (a ravish of hearts), whose names ask me not to disclose
The flowing of my tears bedews her footsteps
In such a manner as ask me not to utter…
Absent from thee, a beggar and a sole tenant of my heart
I have endured such tortures, as ask me not to enumerate
Thus am I, Omad, arrived at extremity in the ways of love,
Which, alas! Ask me not to explain

He tells her he can not bear to be parted yet, and they head back to the vault so he can pretend to do business. She agrees. She will walk shortly ahead to not seem suspicious, as she does not want to be parted either.

End session
