Is it sad that I'm excited to make 2nd level ....

Great game.

I hate to admit it, but when that second group of gnolls attacked, and I only had 4 HP and all the spell slingers were tapped out, I figured we were dead meat !

Then, Barlieg made the lucky toss onto the bed .... woosh roast gnoll!

Plus, I couldn't resist the role playing opportunity when the dwarf started to use the brandy to soak the barricade the 2nd night ... the horror of the thought of that. Wasting good brandy just to potentially save our lives ;)
It's not sad to be excited to reach 2nd level. The world is a dangerous place and adventure is the most dangerous occupation a PC can have. You should feel accomplished when you reach a new level, even if it is "just" 2nd level.
And I'm glad everyone is having fun with the game. That's one of my biggest concerns when I run a game is that everyone is having fun, feels challenged, and gets to roleplay a bit. Sometimes I feel like it is playing out like a video game. Probably why I'm not a big fan of straight up dungeon crawls. They feel artificial to me. I like to have a good mix of dungeon, with town stuff, with wilderness stuff, etc. That way, the players feel like they are getting a good gaming experience.

Good! I am exhausted from all the rooms they got through this week.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Damn...I totally blanked out that yesterday was Monday and was here to post that I would be at tonight's session...until I read the posts above. God, this is embarrassing. Bring on the ridicule. Rig, please accept my apologies. I'm surprised that Skype did not notify me of the call last night...
Achievement is the knowledge that you have studied and worked hard and done the best that is within you. Success is being praised by others. That is nice but not as important or satisfying. Always aim for achievement and forget about success.

Skype was a thorn in my side last night during the game. I know my coms being effected by the TSs was part of the problem, but on top of that Skype didn't play nice either. So, don't feel bad.

That said, to the rest of the party, sorry my coms were such a pain. ...

What little I heard of the game was fun though ;)

No problems. I totally spaced on Nate Sunday night and didn't remember until I was on my way home from a reunion, well after the start time. It happens sometimes.

Just don't let it happen again.

My game is cancelled next week. I have to attend a retirement dinner for some coworkers Monday night and Tree is unable to run his game because of traveling.

I hate that there is no game, but with the day I had .... it may be for the best ....

2 broke busses a near wreck and a 8 hour trip with 100 cadets turned into 11 hours of fun in the sun with no ac and not enough water.

With my luck from today, if we played I'm sure my computer would create feedback and blow up Skype or maptools ...

see you all next week

Since this past Monday was your regularly scheduled day, does that mean its my game next week?

I think I have a Mumble server set up (not through Guildbit), but I'm not sure if it is actually working. I'm going to PM some of you the info to connect. Can you try to connect?

If it doesn't work for you, we can default back to Skype.

After my internet provider repaired the damage the got from the last flood my internet has been a touch faster. It still isn't perfect but it is better.

I'm betting his hosting set up is the problem. If so all we have to do is ask Aergraith to start one up again and use it. While it wasn't perfect, I heard you better than I had in many weeks, so I think it would be better to keep using it. Hopefully everyone, including you, has tweaked their settings better for this next time around. I suspect if you really work on getting your settings right, you will cut out even less, hopefully not at all.

Still wondering what you guys are talking about. Is there some issue with SKYPE?

Heck, we've been using it for years almost flawlessly.

Things work much better for Lurker on Mumble. If your want DL links, etc... check out my game thread a page or two back from where it is now.

Well, I don't intend to DL anything at this point unless Rigon wants us to switch software. From what I read above, he is not able to get this software going.

Seems like Lurker should work towards getting SKYPE to work better on his end, just like all of us have done for each other in the past.

What's his issue? I'd be glad to try and help.

It appears I'm the mine cannery of the group for the internet. If there are issues I'm hit first/hardest ...

I'll admit that my internet provider is the hinge pin for a lot of issues. Apparently, living outside of town by 5 miles means there is only 1 server and they are underpowered for the number of people that are forced to use them. As such my internet is slow compared to everyone else.

However, I've checked everything on my side of the equation and upgraded old/outdated broken equipment I had. With that my internet is running as fast as it ever has. It still isn't "FAST" but it is better.

That said, last week my Skype was better than it had been for weeks, and I was able to have Skype & roll 20 up with no issues before we switched to mumble.

Now, as long as my provider doesn't lose a tower like they did in the last flood, or the weather isn't hitting when we are gaming, I should be ok.

So, you all call the ball I'll be there whether it is Skype or mumble.
