Indeed.

NimRod's potion of VJay ~ a curative for healing, bravery, dexterity, instincts and male enhancement!

4 HPs of health
+1 to hit
+1 to all saves
+2" to all appendages
+4 to your comliness attribute

[Effects last for 4 hours, but seek medical attention if your appendages continue to protrude longer. Side effects include . . wanting to mount owlbears and large mountain goats. Tell your doctor if you take nytrol glycerin for heart health. Also, if your fellow adventurers look like hairy bearded dwarf wimmin, then you're OK and don't worry when you wake up next to one]

Well done, Jay!

After re-reading the PH and reading the CKG and various posts around this forum and others, I've decided to post some possible house rules with regard to illusory magic.

Illusory monsters or spells cause damage to the mind/psyche – 1D6 (at least through the first 4 levels of spells). No physical damage occurs.

Cure spells can only cure above type damage, not gaping wounds that are bleeding out. The wounded fellow may think he is healed and feel great, but blood is pouring out and infection is imminent, so he needs a divine healer.

Major image – caster can only present images of creatures that he has seen in battle and the monster cannot be one of a higher HD than his (per Robert’s post in an illusionist thread - not sure if there are in his house rules).
If you’ve seen a monster, but he didn’t move/fight etc., you can present that image and it will be unmoving – as you saw it.

Illusory rope/bridge/latter, etc.: Excellent illusions, but cannot be physical. So the party or other monsters cannot climb the rope or walk the bridge. However, used as decoys/bait, foes can be fooled and easily killed if they fail their checks and try to utilize said illusions.

No remove blindness/deafness unless caused by an illusory spell (not sure if there is one that can cause them).

Even with these CORRECT interpretations of how illusory magic works, the class is still extremely powerful with so many more spells than before.

Using Nate as an example of how excellent he has used illusionist spells, this class can be very effective in so many ways, it just won't be an uber powered one.

I saw some questions and examples of how the major image spell could be interpreted . . casting images of fireballs and other bad assed spells as well as casting images of dragons. Heh, 2 illusionists could present age 4 dragons and even with some successful saves, there is a good chance to TPK a party.

I would probably also rule that the image of a dragon - could only attack with one of his attacks - bite or claw or breath but not all of them. Much like a person polymorphed into a dragon fights like he did prior to the conversion, i.e. if he had one attack then as a polymorphed dragon he gets only one attack (and can choose it as y'll know).

I welcome your thoughts and comments.

Gnome Illusionist Psionicists.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Regarding stacking of magical and/or expert armors, shields and other protections . .

I've done the research.
I've crunched the numbers.
I've consulted with experts.
I've read and studied the OD&D books and early modules.
I flipped a coin.

And here is the result:

There are no stacking rules.

Yep, I admit it. I used the picture I took of you when I was in Canada last year. The excellent greenish tone of your skin totally matched the above creatures. My guess is, no one can tell which of them is actually you!

Looking good, man!

I'm thinking about throwing up a phpBB forum for this game.

Methinks it will be a good idea.

House rules for CZ game:

2 level characters with max HPs.

4D6 drop lowest (reroll 1s & 2s).

No negative mods, only pos. - I.E. roll a six for an attribute, no negative mod is applied.

Roll for comeliness.

Max gold X 2.

All races get 3 prime attributes

Mages can wear non-metal armor (+3 max) and use short swords.

Monks can wear padded or leather coat (+1 max).

Natural 20 roll (crit) = dmg roll + ½ of total possible.
2nd nat 20 in a row = dmg roll + max.
Fumble = dropped weapon, lose 1 turn.
2nd fumble in a row – weapon damage.

If the party has 2 or more of any class they get special bonuses

Pick 3 or more deities from Of Gods and Monsters, Greyhawk and/or another source.

Spell casters have/know all 0 level spells and some are permanently memorized/known, i.e – wizard can detect magic without having to study, but must state that he is doing so.

Demi-human races have magic users and clerics.

Half giant/half human races are available.

No evil PCs.

Illusory magic:

Illusory monsters or spells cause damage to the mind/psyche – 1D6 (at least through the first 4 levels of spells). No physical damage occurs.

Cure spells can only cure above type damage, not gaping wounds that are bleeding out. The wounded fellow may think he is healed and feel great, but blood is pouring out and infection is imminent, so he needs a divine healer.

Major image – caster can only present images of creatures that he has seen in battle and the monster cannot be one of a higher HD than his (per Robert’s house rules).

Other:

I don’t allow insta-kill spells. If blasted by that type of spell, the PC goes to -1.

All magical protection items stack . . armor, cloaks, rings. etc. And they all stack with expert armor.

Multi/dual classing allowed - use PH or the CZ options/skills PDF (this is in the Yggsburgh book as well).

Also, pick 1 or 2 skills from CZ Yggsburgh book/PDF.

[House rules complete]. :)

Looking forward to it.

Since everyone else is playing gnome illusionist/psionicists I better play something else

By the looks of that picture I think I better play...a space pirate!

Or, maybe a paladin ;)

Ahh, paly - good choice. Perhaps a half-giant/half halfling paladin with a bear familiar will work for you.

Hmm, psionics. I think I'll have a quick look at Rigon's Book of the Mind.

With the exception of Helms of Brilliance (which seemed to be scattered everywhere in the dungeons and castle - hehe, that zany mad Archmage Zagyg!), magical items are rare.

So Kurt, no need to worry about +60 AC until we get to an immortals/deities level game.

You could use both options from the PHB4p. Or the one from the CZ: Skills doc.

By the way, I'm leaning toward a barbarian/druid multiclass.

You have half-giant listed and an available class. Where would I find info on that? Is that the one from my DS conversion or do you have another one somewhere?

For half-giant, I just use the best abilities from the half-orc race. And lose the negative aspects of that race. Half-giants are not shunned or negatively regarded in my campaign world.

I don't have your conversion, but would like to see it.

I'm going to be blissfully incommunicado (though less than 80 miles from you, Rhu!) from June 19-26. Unfortunately that includes two Sundays. I can join in the fun the next game after that, unless you think it's too disruptive.
