My Wife is Awesome

Post by Relaxo »

Besides being a hot redhead, she calls me today on the emergency cell phone (which is usually for "the basement flooded" or "the baby's bleeding, meet me at the ER") to tell me she found a 1e PHB at goodwill for 3 bucks, do I want it?

"it's got some demon thing on the cover with a bowl of fire... by Gary Gy..gax... something..."

Do I want it? For 3 bucks, hell yes!

WOOT!

My wife would not have bothered with a call -- she'd have picked it up and sneaked it under my pillow.

But, congratulations. Double whammy.

I'm going to have to show this thread to my wife. Things could end up being very good... or you guys may not hear from me for several days.

I'm with mort. My wife loves me, but I don't know if she'd call and tell me that there was a D&D book on the shelf of a used bookstore or a Goodwill. But that's nice, Relaxo! I'll be showing this to my wife.

Awesome!

If MrsCharlie saw that ....

she'd assume I already had it and tell me she saw it a week from now in passing.

So your wife is kin, or at least friends with mine!

There are those who say marriage is more than just a word. There are those wits who say it's a sentence. But the lucky ones know that it's a whole paragraph, and the paragraphe ends "..and they really did live happily ever after, you know."

I wish my wife was more aligned with my RPG needs.

My wife tries, but she just isn't a gamer. What she usually does when she wants to give me something gaming-related is give me an eBay giftcard and let me have it.

Awesome!

My wife and I were not very compatible when it came to gaming and hobbies. She would spend hours on her hair and other feminine pursuits. If I would watch a movie in cinema room, she would fall asleep. She was never interested in any of my gaming buddies or going out with us for supper (even if no gaming was involved). We split up, not because of my gaming or our incompatibilities, but for many other reasons, however we are still great friends. These days I'm living with a wonderful lady who delights in seeing me happy.

Last week I took a 1 week vacation and used one of those days for Miniature gaming with some friends. I have an extensive WOTC D&D Mini collection which hardly gets used these days, so I pulled some of them out for some gaming goodness. The thing is WOTC changed the rules, and the cards I have are completely useless so I had to reprint all the cards in order to play with the new rules. On the night before the game day, my girlfriend sat there with me for a good hour or so while I cut out the cards and put them into plastic sleeves in order to use them the next day with my friends. It was several hundred cutouts, but we stopped at one set and then decided to just put the entire sheet in one letter sized plastic sheet and then in a binder (saved time).

The Point is... she had no problem taking time to help me with my hobby. She ASKED to help!

Then again LAST NIGHT, there I was browsing my binder full of mini stat cards, not really playing, and then she sat down and actually took 2 1/2 hours to play a game with me. She struggled with the rules at first but then understood and did pretty well - wiping out 6 of my 9 minis. She eventually lost, but I think we both won something special that night. It's really nice to be able to share your interests with the people most important in your life.

As for me sharing in her interests, well... she loves cooking and I LOVE eating her food, especially her soup (just ask MORIARTY how good it is! MMMMmmmmm). I have actually taken an interest in helping her cook and have cooked for her as well. It's not unusual to see us baking bread together. So I bake bread with her, and she plays minis with me. THAT WORKS!

It is amazing how your life changes when you find someone who "delights in seeing you happy".

I agree. It makes the world a sunnier and nicer place

Cooking, when done properly, involves bacon, bacon, sausage, bacon, cheese, bacon, and barbecue. Anything else is just foodie play.
