Still Alive...but need a Cure Disease!
Hiya folks. I'm still kickin'. Got into the 3d printer craze and been making tiny starship miniatures by the truck load. Argosy Command, which was part of the Domesday Book years ago, got a make over...upgrade...and official ship mini's as well as will be coming out in an official Kickstarter this summer sometime. COVID sort of messed with getting any game group together to play (I'm not really fond of online play...too impersonal for my comfort zone) so not a lot of C&C going here and been too busy to really sit down to write or map things.
On the health side of things; I had to have emergency surgery for a peri-rectal abscess at the end of March this year, which lead to two colonoscopies, (the first one having failed cauterizations and I ended up in the ER bleeding out almost 3 pints), which lead to the discovery of a ping pong ball sized tumor at the end of my small intestine. CT scan showed additional masses in my left lung and one or two other spots in my abdomen...so I get to go get nuked til I glow for a special scan in a couple weeks to make sure of what is cancer and what isn't. Then the knife happy sots in the hospital plan to play. So yeah...a cure disease would definitely be better than doing a holiday turkey imitation (being all carved up for those not getting the reference). Not been given a black card (yet) but Murphy has been making a right royal pain in the arse of himself the last few years.

Hey, sad to hear you've had such severe issues but good to know the mend may be back, even if you're not an item... we'll just rewrite the spell.
Or maybe you need to get onto making more Excel generators. Yeah. That. Do it.

Re: Still Alive...but need a Cure Disease!
Three CT scans later: Relatively good news. Only three spots of cancer; the primary mass at the end of my small intestine, a smaller mass at a lymph node adjacent, and a small mass in my upper left lung. All operable with a 90% prognosis of full recovery. Just waiting to for a surgery date. Then it'll be trying to figure out how to pay for it all while essentially being unemployed. One step forward, five back with an Ogre's club to the face. (wry chuckle)

Well, glad to hear that the spots can be removed. That's good news.

Re: Still Alive...but need a Cure Disease!
UPDATE: First surgery done; two abdominal tumors removed along with a bit of my small intestine. Doc said all went really well; no signs of further spread there; and am now home recovering. Almost no pain unless moving or sitting up. Dressing off tomorrow (sun the 14th) and staples come out on the 25th. Lung surgery is likely to happen in Oct or Nov and hopefully will be the last of this mess.

Re: Still Alive...but need a Cure Disease!
Update: I'm healing up really well. If not for the visible evidence I'd be hard pressed to believe I was opened up like a Christmas goose. lol Down side though; the pathology came back positive on the lymph nodes taken out along with the tumor one. So it is confirmed stage IV cancer and I'm likely looking at a round or three of chemo after the last tumor is removed just to be sure to kill the stupid stuff. Still have a 90% positive long term prognosis which is good. Now to roll that 20 for the lottery win so I can pay all the doctors and crap. lol

Re: Still Alive...but need a Cure Disease!
Okay...heading into the endgame with this cancer thing finally. Lung tumor surgery is happening on the 20th Oct. Only about 10% from the upper bit to be removed. Once that tumor is gone, all done. No chemo necessary according to my oncologist unless the blood work and such come up nasty. Just periodic checks for the next decade will be it. So by Turkey Day I should be recovered and made all my check rolls successfully.

Re: Still Alive...but need a Cure Disease!
Hey folks! Final surgery done and no more cancer (for now); other than the pea-sized lung tumor, the pathology on the lymph nodes that were removed round the tumor came back as negative. No chemo in the future either at present. Thanks for the well wishes from those that gave them. Apparently I possess the skill "Pain Reduction". Both the gut and lung surgeries are not pleasant and both docs and nurses were kinda shocked when I responded 'annoying' when asked for a pain level...and refused any pain killers stronger than the occasional Tylenol. lol I DID make sure the robot used in the surgery was NOT part of the Skynet Club beforehand as well...I mean...that could be a real problem after all. LOL

Re: Still Alive...but need a Cure Disease!
Just a quick update: The follow-up 5-month post surgery CT Scan came back clean. Cancer is all gone at this time and only has a less than 5% chance of recurrence. So other than the scars...and a sometimes hollow sounding breathing...I'm all mended despite missing a few parts.
