What gaming stuff are you reading?
Re: What gaming stuff are you reading?
Monochrome D1, D2, D3, and S1.
Re: What gaming stuff are you reading?
Why the C&C Players Handbook and the M&T book of course. LOL
I am going to get around to other options of course, but core stuff first.

Re: What gaming stuff are you reading?
Skimming some used Rifts source and world books. Also waiting for the 8th Doctor's sourcebook for the Doctor Who rpg from Cubicle 7.
Re: What gaming stuff are you reading?
Spot reading through the Savage Worlds Lahkmar PDF, to hold me over until the print copy comes out. I also have the White Box Companion to read through.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Re: What gaming stuff are you reading?
Not sure it really qualifies as "gaming" material, but I am reading through an Objective-C manual with hopes to learn enough to get my own RPG programmed for iOS...
Otherwise, I am scouring through Tunnels and Trolls solo modules. Hope to get my Grimtooth's Traps KS items soon.

Re: What gaming stuff are you reading?
I'm working my way through the 5E core books. It's taking forever because I only have time for a few pages per day. I also just finished reading the rules to Splendor (they are really short).

Re: What gaming stuff are you reading?
Just finished reading thru the 5e DMG. Some good stuff I can use in my C&C campaign, though I'd not want to run 5e as the DM. Might try playing if a game came my way though.

Grimtooth’s Traps are so lovely, I’ve been diving into them a lot lately. I haven’t used any of the meatgrinder ones, but I am loving the devious and tricky ones that can't be avoided with a simple ability check.

Yeah, I am constantly reading and re reading my 5E books, since I play in a game of it every week.

I'm reading Rappan Athuk (Swords & Wizardry), and slowly converting it to Fantasy Grounds 2 as I do so...for Castles & Crusades!
Yeah, it will be a long process, but I'm adding in functionality Encounters, and adding in Parcels, links, etc. Should be pretty cool when it's all said and done.

Rappan Athuk, yeah! I'd love to run a megadungeon campaign based on that series.

Re: What gaming stuff are you reading?
Pathfinder's Game Mastery Guide. I've had it for a while and glanced at it few times. Actually sat down this past weekend and started to read it cover to cover - somewhere around page
Got in D&D 5e Princes of the Apocalypse. Read the intro about the factions and now on the story hooks/backgrounds. Pretty interesting so far.
Also got in Pathfinder Unchained. Haven't delved too much into this other than to look at the table of contents and introduction. Apparently some big changes - all optional - are in it with revised versions of the Barbarian, Rogue, Summoner, and Monk. What's interesting is that the classes can all be used (optionally) in the Pathfinder Society Organized Play, but the revised Summoner is now required.

The new Lone Wolf RPG. Based on the series of gamebooks for the 1980s, this new lone wolf RPG keeps the game very close to the system used in the books, but advances it enough to make it a full-fledged RPG. I'm really liking what I see so far.

Woo I'm on book 18 of the Lone Wolf series- "Dawn of the Dragons". Been reading them in succession around enormous piles of homework. Had a few as a kid and now as an adult been collecting the entire series. I've only got one more to get for those released in the US : Book 19. Got 20 already. Got the four-book world of Lonewolf Greystar the Wizard set too. These books are AWESOME.Omote wrote:The new Lone Wolf RPG. Re: What gaming stuff are you reading?
Amazing series of books. Not enough people give the Lone Wolf gamebooks writing credit, because it's a game in a book. The writing is good, with great action. Quite vivid without going through dense passages of prose like many modern fantasy fiction. While I never made it past perhaps LW book 9 or 10, the setting has always captured my imagination. For that, I have played the d20 version of Lone Wolf, which was surprisingly well written for that system, and Mongoose Publishing's attempt at the LWRPG. The latter was quite lackluster for a rules set. I was so glad when Cubicle 7 got the rights to publish Lone Wolf material, and they started with the RPG. Crazy awesome.

I had a similar reaction. I sat down in a chair to flip through it really quickly before going to bed. I looked back up 30 minutes later. I don't know if I'll incorporate its material into my game, but it is a fascinating book. Lots of cool ideas.Rhuvein wrote:Me, Codex Nordica.

I have the old Deities & Demigods book (with the Cthulu & Melnibone pantheons!) but its pretty beat up. I'm looking forward to comparing the two.Rhuvein wrote:Fabulous tome. Re: What gaming stuff are you reading?
DCC modules.... I love'em
Re: What gaming stuff are you reading?
We went to the nearby library and they were having a book sale. I grabbed a bunch of the old TSR novels for $0.25 each. Not directly game related, but close enough. I figured I might as well read Azure Bonds.
However, the real score was the Krondor series. Not TSR. Not gaming, specifically, but more related because I like the PC games.

I started on some of the old novels after Joe Bloch of The Greyhawk Grognard blog did a review of several of the Greyhawk Novelizations of the old modules - Keep on the Borderlands, Tomb of Horror's, Queen of the Demonweb pits, Descent into the Depths and White Plume Mountain. you can find Joe's reviews of his books below, just scroll down to read his ones on the novels I mentioned.

Anyway, I'm listening to them as audiobooks - White Plume Mountain and Descent Into the Depths were pretty good, TOEE was a bit of chore to get through. I'm taking a break now and listening to Gamma World novel "Sooner Dead".

Really just skimming through a variety of things. DCC Planet of Purple Peril boxed set, some other DCC set, the DCC Lankhmar module, etc. Also some used Rifts books, Gramercy Island for Palladium's Heroes Unlimited, and Shades of Mist (current C&C module my group is playing through).
Re: What gaming stuff are you reading?
RPGNow had the Codex Celtarum on sale per an email I received. So I went and bought it and began reading it last night.
Re: What gaming stuff are you reading?
Got the Shadowrun 4e bundle from Bundle of Holding - so lots of stuff there.
Also reading the D&D 5e Princes of the Apocalypse
C&C's Umbrage Saga (on-going). My Players have finished the Varg and are getting ready to hunt down Miles Friedman and his band of Malcontents. Perhaps even try to save the Ineag Tree.

Re: What gaming stuff are you reading?
I've got a LOT to read from the NTRPGCon materials I picked up. I have two of the Lahkmar DCC adventures to read, I picked up all of the Inferno books (something like 8 of those), Warhammers Death on the Reik boxed set are the ones I recall off the top of my head. Plus I picked up the Bundle of Holding for Ars Magica, so a LOT to read there as well, since I have never played it.
Edit: Oh yeah, I picked up Jeff Dee's Tekumel book, so more reading to do there as well, and a couple of Eldritch Enterprise adventures I need to read, one of which is Jim Ward's Outpost adventure.
