How do you know the rep was not just saying that to further unbalance you? Seems pretty suspect to me.

My wife gave me a present and inside it were 40th anniversary reprints of original Call of Cthulhu, 1st edition, so basically identical copies of the first 1" box and its follow-up smaller one. I had them already but the reprints will give me an excuse to actually use them, maybe. I actually prefer my printing that came printed upside down and reversed - a "flaw" I hoped was intentional to decrease my SAN, but unfortunately was not per the Chaosium rep I spoke to about it.

Anyway, CoC is good times.
That sounds awesome!

I never played CoC back in the day, but have dug into it over the last year - ran a Halloween one last years for my girls' face to face game, and started converting the Monday Night AA Masque of Red Death game.

That said, NICE on the reprint !

Ha rgr on needing a SAN check reading through CoC and then for some reason the print is upside down.

Hi J.

How do you like this box set?

As a total collector of boxed sets (I think I have every TLG set released, some in doubles), should I go for this one?

Hope all is well in your world,

It's an improvement on the original boxed set they put out, better edited and the quality of the of the box is much sturdier. The rules themselves are the same as the game presented in the PHB, though they only take PCs up to 10th level. You only get 4 classes, magic-user, cleric, thief, and fighter. Human, elf, dwarf, and halfling are the only races to choose from. That being said, I give it a recommend to anyone that wants a trimmed down version of C&C but yet also wants a full game as there is plenty in this boxed set to keep a game going for years.

Thanks, man - appreciate your comments! Very tempting, but $50 is a bit steep, mebbe.

Warhammer The Horus Heresy - Liber Astartes. I have the box set staring at me, along with the Burning of Propsero.

I've got the Sisters of Silence and the Custodes assembled and primed from the latter. I figure I'll just go ahead and paint up a Space Wolves legion when I get some time.

Great box set. Had it for a time back in the day. Picked it up on Drive Thru RPG while ago. What's your take on it so far? Do you have it in digital or the actual box?

World of Greyhawk boxed set is my all time favorite RPG product. I've been looking back into my play copy getting ready for the next campaign arc.

Also, currently reading some Conan compilations.

Hello, TheMetal1

Me and the WoG box set are old friends. It is my absolute favorite setting! So many fond memories of playing with friends long ago in Greyhawk...

I pull the box off the shelf every so often, spread out the maps, and revisit the setting goodness. This time I did so with the notion of basing a new campaign in Greyhawk using my C&C house rules for the system. I'm starting to get the itch to sit behind the screens again. I had 8 players when covid hit and my Aihrde campaign went on hiatus. Six my players moved away so I will need to recruit new ones to launch a campaign based in the Kingdom of Furyondy.

How about you? What do you like most about the WoG box set? Any particular nations / regions capturing your attention?

Hey! Technically the main base is still at the KOTB in far Eastern Ulek, but the campaign has shifted more to the City of Greyhawk and the Duchy of Urnst. The party did a shipwreck trip for Dwellers of the Forbidden City and a quick jaunt over to the Sea Princes for The Sentinel/The Gauntlet, but all other game play has been in the Central area of the map.

I've played "Forbidden City" a couple times. Really fun sandbox with a Swords & Sorcery vibe. I've owned Sentinel & Gauntlet since the 80s, but never played them. We were supposed to a couple times, but got sidetracked into other things. They are pretty interesting and use quite a few more obscure monsters because they were pushing the Fiend Folio at the time they came out.

Dwellers was a lot of fun, and honestly I could have made a mini campaign just around it. Sentinel/Gauntlet was awesome. I had a ton of fun DM'ing it, and had some of the best large scale battles in the whole campaign.

Been a bit since I posted but I never post all that often anywhere.

Came into a little bit O extra money and an Amazon gift card sooo.... I made some purchases...

The Warden
Goodman games Metamorphosis Alpha collectors
Victorious bundle
Amazing Adventures
And the newest C&C collectors box.

Gotta say...the new collectors box is sweet.
The Warden is something I have been wanting to see since the 80's.
Victorious is exceeding my expectations
...and Amazing Adventures is as good as I expected it to be.

I don't think you'll be disappointed with either Victorious or AA. Our Monday Night N'er do well group has had a lot of fun using both systems.

Rgr that. AA is a good pulp game and easy rules (like all the TLG Siege games) and Victorious is a GREAT unsung and overlooked TLG game. I tend not to like 'super hero' games but I love Victorious. Not only are the rules as good as all the Siege games, and the setting is interesting, but it is hugely modifiable. We have played a btb Victorious game, a modern heros game, a classic high fantasy setting, and we have been kicking around ideas on a sci fi 'star Victory' game.

As for what I have been reading lately ....prepping for a Halloween game so re-digging into Call of Cthulhu. Other than that, just got the new Mongoose Traveller's 2300AD, and kicking around ideas for a '30 Parsecs' setting so digging into MGT's Traveller v1 & v2, the original 2300AD, and MGT's 2300 AD v1 & v2. Its a lot of mashing things together and tinkering with the finer squishy bits.

Going back and reading some old Dragon magazine articles as well as World of Greyhawk boxed set material. My son is already asking if I'm prepared to pick up the campaign at Christmas break...at least he's consistent.

Apologies on the late reply here. I remember seeing in a toy store as a kid and was fascinated by it. Probably several years later, I bought the gold box set back in the day from a neighborhood friend in the mid-80s. Where it went, I have no idea. However, I did get a copy of it off of DriveThruRPG.

Seeing a whole world like that with maps, heraldry, runes and all the additional information was amazing. Now I think I'm more interested in Blackmoor and the Free City of Greyhawk. Primarily because of the connection to early gaming.

Damn! This looks cool. And I'm a sucker for a high level adventure. One of the best times I ever had DMing was with the 2e module "A Paladin in Hell." We had a really clever, experienced group of players that solved the dungeon and totally avoided fighting Geryon, who is the big bad in there.
