Re: Very important message regarding the forums

Hi all! I have taken up the mantle of Forum-Admin, so I shall be keeping her running as long as possible. The previous stellar work brought it up to date, so for now it is simply a case of making backups and updating as and when the software moves forwards. One thing I have noticed, however, is that...

Re: What gaming stuff are you reading?

I should be reading LOTS of things in my bookshelf. An absolute ton of it has only been browsed, or specific parts read, such as enough of the rules to get going with running/playing it, but not the entire book.

I give an XP amount for turning up and playing. If someone roleplays very well I'll give them a little bonus. Plus they get the XP from gold/treasures/monsters.

Re: I'm not Rhuvein anymore . .

Yes, it's become very popular. I still think it's over-priced at £50 a pop, putting it out of my reach to have my parents tested currently. Regarding the results, they are improving and narrowing down the meanings of specific chromosomes regularly. My chart is always updating. Things can only get be...

Re: I'm not Rhuvein anymore . .

Hey Tadhg. That is, indeed, a rough revelation. I can understand some of the reactions here - to a lot of people the biological makeup of your DNA, and who it comes from, doesn't matter as it is who brought you up that is important; but I can also fully understand that some people (including you) wo...

Re: How many players do you like to have in your gaming group?

We are currently running with 4 (GM+3) but the optimum is 5. Enough to fit around the table, enough to split into two groups if need be but not too many to make giving screen-time hard or battling over OOC conversations.

Re: What gaming stuff are you reading?

Dipping in and out of After Winter Dark as well as Exalted books. Also running a Baker Street: Roleplaying in the World of Sherlock Homes game as a Play By Forum so reading some of that too. And as I'm making The Warlock Returns magazines that means the occasional bit of reading of AFF (Advanced Fig...

Re: Playing or Designing?

When I have the TIME I like to design and run.

When I have lots on (most of the time!) I like to play - that way I can enjoy the narrative and descriptive writing, but without having to think about the plot and everything.

I'm a big proponent of forums. So when I joined C&C I did my damndest to start posting here. I am happy to say it caught on and others joined in too.

I won't say I single-handedly resurrected it but, well, ya know ;)

My group finished A0 a while back.

They are not interested in playing further unless I pull the world into another system (read: "D&D").

Re: Favorite ways to start a new group

Totally situation-dependent. For our A0 game the characters had met on the road and through the need for company and talk had decided to walk with each other a-ways. In that walk they got to know each other and work out that they wanted to explore the world and try to "do good" so decided ...

Re: On dungeon mapping

With online play being the current way of life we use whichever VTT is in use. For me, with C&C, that is Fantasy Grounds Unity.
Either with pre-made maps or one I've made in Wonderdraft/DungeonDraft.

Re: Why C&C?

For me personally it takes the feel of fantasy edged games like D&D but provides easier mechanics, all of which are modular. I can run C&C using just the base 12/18 stuff and everything else is optional/gm feat. Unlike D&D, which requires in-depth knowledge. My group....not so keen for t...

Elite Dangerous Battlecards is my last purchase, and the wife got me Catan for Christmas (but won't play it with me so it sits there unloved and unplayed....until I can meet with my RPG/Game group again when this is all over)

The wife has our youngest read to her and she then reads to her. I have the eldest read to me and then I read to her. We have been steadily working through Wind in the Willows and all of the sequels (written by William Horwood). We are on to the last one he wrote, The Willows in Winter. She has love...

Horror can indeed be tricky, but it does sound like you handled yourself very well as the Keeper of the Lore. The biggest issue, generally, with investigative games is the players missing or misunderstanding a clue. Have some alternative ways for some important bit of info to reach them if they deci...
