Re: What is kosher and what is not with regards to fan mater

I think what you want to do sounds fine but only Steve or Tim can give you the real skinny on what they feel would be suitable for these forums. As far as legality goes, what Treebore says seems right to me but Im no lawyer nor an expert on the OGL. From what I can tell the only time there was any s...

Re: What Board/Card Games Are You Playing?

Naw. None of the games I mentioned are collectible card games. Buy the box, you got all da cards. The slight exception is that there are some promo cards out there that are mondo expensive for both of these games. Other than that, no. Not a CCG. But the be clear, I am talking about the Deck Buildin...

You've got the right of it, Aergraith. Talking about other offerings in our hobby is encouraged in this subforum so no need to hold back. I love many games alongside C&C. My faves are C&C, OD&D (1974), and Warhammer FRP 2nd edition in the Fantasy Genre and I will play any of these anytim...

Re: What Board/Card Games Are You Playing?

DC Deckbuilder Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring Deck Building Game. Both are essentially the same game. I think the LOTR version is a bit more complex and balanced than the DC version. ~O Ive heard good things about the LoTR card game and it's on my short list of stuff I wanna buy. Is ...

Re: new C&C edition vs D&D Next

I suppose already when I run a Classic game I tell people exactly which books I am using, so the scenario I imagined where I say "Show up at 8, we are playing Basic D&D" and everyone comes with a different edition and I hate the world for a week probably wouldn't come to pass. There a...

Re: new C&C edition vs D&D Next

Yeah I hear ya. Just to be honest, though, I dont think WoTC is concerned about the TSR stuff that came before. They are approaching this as THE version of D&D with all the associated nomenclature and naming schemes. In branding it doesn't matter what the company is concerned with internally re...

Re: new C&C edition vs D&D Next

Why do they call it Basic D&D? We already have Basic D&D. I guess there is no confusion if I call Holmes, B/X, BECMI, RC "Classic D&D", but geez. Yeah I hear ya. Just to be honest, though, I dont think WoTC is concerned about the TSR stuff that came before. They are approachin...

Re: new C&C edition vs D&D Next

They have learned some hard lessons from the 4th edition release. I am very happy that they are making these moves to keep their customer base informed and intact (hopefully growing!). There are 4e fans that will refuse to switch and the boat may have sailed on regaining the Pathfinder crowd but a h...

Re: What Board/Card Games Are You Playing?

Ive got that Talisman digital on steam as well. I havent played it much but it is very cool! I played some Pathfinder adventure card game earlier and managed to get my paladin killed (ran out of player deck) just short of closing out the final location and hitting the BBEG. Oh well, gives me a chanc...

Re: What boardgame(s) are you playing?

TheMetal1, I have all of the expansions but havent added any of the materials from any expansions yet. I was hoping to get my win ratio a bit higher before adding anything. I might use the Deathwing team soon since some of those characters have very cool abilities, like the tech marine with a combat...

Re: new C&C edition vs D&D Next

So D&D next.... pretty cool game actually. I will be buying it and I am very happy that WoTC has been listening to the overall fanbase and not the vocal minority you might find on certain internet fora. I havent had time to play much at all lately and I sincerely doubt it would ever replace C&am...

Re: First C&C Session a Success! And Coin Weight...

FR has long been my preferred setting amonst the official D&D offerings. I do not like what has transpired within the Realms in the newest products and novels, but I largely ignore FR canon that has been published after the D&D 3rd edition FR Campaign Setting hardcover.

Re: Rules Cyclopedia on DriveThru

Wonder how much LULU would charge for a HC print version. I hate that a printed book is not an option from drivethru for this book. RC is the single best format to have complete Classic D&D rules for portability and completeness.
