Re: What RPG's have you actually played?

Given the 12 hour minimum stipulation, surprisingly few:
OD&D
AD&D 1e
AD&D 2e
Classic D&D
C&C
WFRP1e
WFRP2e
Dark Heresy
Savage Worlds
Top Secret/SI
Gamma World
Star Frontiers

Think that's about it, considering a 12 hour minimum play-time.

Re: Kindle ??

Kindle Fire does as well as most arm-based dual core processor android devices. You can make it much smoother by purchasing EZPDF for android devices. It is the best of breed of pdf readers on android, IMO. I have read 200 meg RPG PDFs on my Asus Transformer with few issues. Yes, it's not as fast as...

Re: Kindle ??

My kindle paperwhite will be here tomorrow according to amazon. I have had a sony prs505, a nook color, an asus transformer prime and now a Dell XPS 12 tablet/ultrabook hybrid. I have read books from each and every one. My personal findings are that, for just reading books, there is nothing at all (...

Re: Kindle ??

Download an app called "Calibre" and it will convert between multiple formats and even natively supports both platforms for ebook management. It's an awesome (and free) app that works on Mac, PC, and Linux. Without this app, my ebook addiction would not be as rampant as it is today ;)

Re: 1st edition AD&D Reprints - my thoughts

We used segments with weapon speed factors and casting times. It was a lot of fun as I recall, but in retrospect I cant determine whether it really added anything to the combat. Still, I would use segments if I ever ran an AD&D game again.

Cumberbatch is awesome^3. If you have not, please go watch at least two episodes of BBC's Sherlock (not the somewhat lackluster American "Elementary" plz and thx). It will showcase the awesomeness of Cumberbatch and Freeman, both of whom are in the new Hobbit movies. PS- if, by some strang...

Re: I'm too much of a dork

Just before the Star Trek Experience closed in Las Vegas I made a pilgrimage there to visit Quark's Bar and to go through the two scenarios they had set up for guests. On the way out, they had an area set up where guests could leave notes on the wall expressing their thoughts on the closing of the e...

Gents, please let's get this puppy back on topic. The Trolls are friendly with the Gygax family and we would appreciate it if this thread could remain on the topic of the magazine itself and not any internal strife that might be going on within the family.

Re: Now that Classic Monsters is out

I assume it's easier to convert monsters from d&d 3.5, rather than AD&D 1st. What source do you use? I would like to see your C&C beholder stats if it's not to much trouble. MUCH easier to convert from older versions of D&D such as AD&D1e or the RC. Excellent guidelines follow: ...

My games are mostly sandbox(ish) types of games. Most of my games of late have been investigation-based. I guess that' the legacy of my long term love of Dark Heresy bleeding into my other RPGs.

Re: Expert Work Armor .....Poor Investment?

If youve ever gamed with the Chenault bros. you would find that in their campaign there are no magic item shops with easy to purchase mystical goods. In low magic or no-magic campaigns that expert set of hussar armour would be worth its weight in platinum. But yeah, I agree that the math doesnt work...
