Re: What gaming stuff are you reading?

The original one? That's one of the many games that I wish I had picked up back in the day, since it's so pricey now. Ghostbusters RPG ~O Indeed, the original. Ghostbusters RPG is so simple, and even more dependent upon the GM, that I had to review it for a possible upcoming game. The GBRPG mechani...

Re: Deluxe Tunnels & Trolls Kickstart

Has there been any indication as to how much the PDF will cost for us non-backers when it is released? I skimmed the announcement page, and it appears they are going to be releasing it for sale on Drivethru in a week, or so, but did not see a price mentioned. -Chris I am guessing somewhere between ...

Re: What gaming stuff are you reading?

So in my A-Series games, my players are around 4th or 5th Level (with a few 1st or 2nd Level who joined a bit later), and have taken a liking to Botkinburg. They've decided to open up a trade goods store called the "Otter's Den" (after the Boris the otter in the Umbrage Saga, whom they've ...

Most excellent to see these arriving. Nothing at my door yet. I'm thinking I should've gotten the Leatherette version as well! Perhaps one day, we'll see a limited edition Red Leatherette of the CKG so I can finish out my set. Alas I will still be waiting on the add-on of the Codex Aihrde and Player...

Re: When does a PC die: Thoughts on Negative Hit Points

The next question; do the monsters continue to chop you up when you are down? Not really, once the PC is down, I treat them as if they're unconscious and the NPCs are on to other things...for the most part. I have used the threat of a coup d'etat to good effect on the PCs though. With the adoption ...

Re: When does a PC die: Thoughts on Negative Hit Points

I think the D&D 5e perspective is that once you hit 0 or below you have to roll a save. Kind of like the 3.5 (if it was in that edition, but I know it's Dungeons & Dragons Online you use a %dice) roll to stabilize. You have to have 3 successful CON saves or three failed saves before you die....

When does a PC die: Thoughts on Negative Hit Points

Back in the day in our mish-mash of AD&D and BECMI, if a PC was reduced to 0 hit points, that was the end for them. I was out of gaming for about 15 years and C&C was my gateway back into fantasy. I saw that 0 hit points meant unconscious, followed by negative hit points until -10 when the P...

Re: Favorite Critical Hit Systems?

On page 302 of the CKG, 2nd Printing they have a section worth reading on Critical Hits. I like to use pretty deadly critical hit systems in my C&C game, my players not so much, but we came to a workable solution. For my game, first, I've implemented the Table 19.1 Impact Of Negative HP (pg 333,...

I went ahead and purchased D&D 5E. I have not played the game. I offer a few observations based upon reading the material in the PHB, DMG, and the MM. I liked the monster manual the best. The Vampire write up had a Bram Stoker feel to it. I would not say that 5E is easier to play than D&D 3...

Well, I actually do play with that rule - well a variation on it anyway. I'll have to go back and re-look at it. But it's been fun for us anyway. The last two sessions of our C&C game had two parties in the middle of a troll fight launching arrows at the troll....and missing. Repeatedly. So I lo...
