Re: Cortex Plus
I think the Hackers book is fairly self sufficient BUT owning any flavor of an existing Cortex book / game will at least provide a solid example if not a better framework. I'm not a huge Cortex guy though it was interesting enough to invest in Marvel Heroic, the original Firefly RPG, and the first s...

Re: FUNDING THE FUN (Selling Gaming Goodness)
I was just going to say that the prices seem very low but I was not counting the shipping charges, which always suck. Worth it, though, for some of these. I'll be sending a PM. Thanks Robert, I got the PM and responded. Folks, he has a very good point. The prices are very low -- deliberately so. I'...

Re: FUNDING THE FUN (Selling Gaming Goodness)
After my first inquiry, I realized that small boxed parcels for even a single hardcover has a base price of $25. In other words, unless the book can be mailed in a padded envelope, and weigh somewhere under a couple of pounds, it will seem to fetch a much larger price when you compared the LOW price...

Re: Cortex Plus
Just noticed this. I finally got my copies of the Hackers Guide. Seem like you can set up your favorite genre of game with it without the need of the other Cortex game books. When I first backed it, I assumed it was complementary to existing books but looking through it, it is pretty self sufficient...

Re: Strange Brew: The Ultimate Witch & Warlock (PF/C&C)
I would be normally all over this sort of thing and it would be typically something I would insist on getting in hardback. $55 + $25 shipping makes this considerably out of reach for me. One can argue that the PDF level at $25 is the obvious solution but I haven't decided if I'm OK with just the PDF...

Mike I am very please to see that this is finally seeing the light of day. I was always a believer in the project and I know how difficult the journey has been. If this makes it to GenCon, I will be picking up a copy on day one. It will also be my first GenCon and if you and Liz are going to be ther...

Re: Rarities Valuation
I wish I had the miniatures. I had secretly hoped that one of the stretch goals might have been to bring those four models back. Over the years, I've managed to accumulate a bunch of stuff and at one point I was grabbing up all the TLG material I could get... d20, pre-d20, and of course all the C&am...

Re: What Board/Card Games Are You Playing?
I've quickly taken to the Star Wars Miniatures game. I write about it on my blog here: http://arcanacreations.blogspot.ca/2014/04/weekend-r-x-wing-miniatures.html Lots of fun... And based on the various games I've played, it can be short and quick or VERY LONG. I've calculated that it will typically...

Re: I might just leave RPGs behind, or my tale of burnout
Hey Greyblade, Well, I don't think it's strictly a black and white issue. I've been involved in a group were things kind of fell flat and general frustration and boredom set in -- not unlike some of what you describe actually. I've also recently had a game implode which necessitated some time off. I...

I'm going... and it's my first time at GenCon this year. I've run demos and such in stores and the process to set up a game seems not too difficult but being my first time at GenCon, I didn't want to worry about running anything officially. Would love to meet up with my fellow Crusaders at some poin...

Bill... the wife and I have bought used before but, they were most definitely 'gently used' (you can tell be looking at the condition of the treads) and the garage we bought them from is VERY reputable. First name basis reputable with them. If it wasn't for BOTH of those factors, we would have likel...

today. I've only flipped through it, but it looks really nice. FYI, only the first 150 to back the Kickstarter get this, so if your not one of the first 150, you cannot get this. This is the soft cover "special" they e-mailed their e-mail subscribers about, as an "Early Bird" re...

Re: JG City State Kick Starter up
It is certainly interesting but I will be passing on this one. In fact, just a short while ago, I was selling my lot of d20 Wilderlands material... the Box Set, City State Hardcover, the Player's Guide, and the Caverns of Thracia (d20), plus the 3 d20 conversions that Goodman Games did. Had a couple...

Re: CKG Option: Advantages
After years of playing with them, they are no big deal. It does add a certain element of min-maxing, or power-gaming to C&C games that is already present, but not as well defined until you add in advantages. The good thing about the ones in the CKG is that (and thank God for this) is that they ...

CKG Option: Advantages
Simple poll questions because I am likely introducing them in my next session. At first I found them intriguing as a concept (before the CKG was released) but thought they resembled Feats a bit. But since I have some whiny players, I am reconsidering my previous stance. Also, with the mention of the...

[ Seems to have been a typo. Try 126. ;) It's in the saving throw section. Doesn't cover the damage type being referred to. It only covers Energy drain. It is a hole in the rules. Symantics... Interesting. Now that I think about it, Castle & Crusades is the longest system I have played. I started gaming in 88 or 89 and by this time 2nd Edition was out which is what I started playing. Sure, with its relative compatibility, 1st Edition material andthe BECMI D&D sets were used as wel...

Heh, I have looked some more and still nothing. At best, I see someone else mention the D8 for first and D6 there after bit nothing from Steve. So failing that, if the access to the runes are controlled, is D8 through out really all that much of an edge? Slow BtH advancement and restricted armor plu...

Re: Rune Mark Inconsistencies?
Well, as written, the book clearly contradicts itself. If it was to be that way, then both the summary before the class table shouldn't just indicate d8 and the advancement table should show d8 for 1st and d6 for levels 2 through 10 or whatever that is. This was pointed out before the book went to p...

Rune Mark Inconsistencies?
Ok folks, Recently had a character die horribly in the present campaign... the rogue tried a crazy stunt at 1 hit point facing off against the Witch Queen in the 'Wicked Cauldron' adventure (A3). New character is needed and we were looking at the Rune Mark from TLG's Rune Lore. First off, the Hit Di...

Re: I now remember why I ran screaming from 3.x Land
One reason led me to C&C and aside from this singular reason, some of the disputes with some of the Feats and rules was a strong, second motivation. This first was that I wanted game were miniatures were truly optional. Despite some claims, 3rd Edition D&D did not allow for that. With the wa...
