Re: Giving the wizard more to do?

Whatever I do, I don't want the wizard to be leaps and bounds ahead of the other classes at higher levels.

Re: Giving the wizard more to do?

Thanks, guys. I'll check out both options. I just don't want to overdo it with advantages, as I had mixed feelings about feats years ago.

Re: Giving the wizard more to do?

I have mixed feelings about using advantages/feats, but maybe that's the solution. Maybe, I'll just let every player have one advantage at 1st level, and then restrict them for the rest of their adventuring career.

I'll be sure to do that. I can't remember...is that from the advantages section?

Giving the wizard more to do?

I'm about to start the A-series for my friend and his son. My friend likes Castles and Crusades, but wishes the wizard could be a bit more like the class in D&D 5. I think he was suggesting the possibility of having a "go to" offensive spell, instead of a wizard being relegated to the staff, etc., w...

Re: Changes you would make to C&C

I haven't given this too much thought, but I agree with others about the WIS prime for Rangers, maybe a minor tweak to the fighter, and I think the rogue and the assassin could use a bth bump at higher levels (from the CKG). I'm sure I could come up with other ideas, but those are just a few.

Slimy, you're reading Lando Calrissian and the Star Caves of Thonbonka? I have those novels. Back before there was an EU. It was 2 or 3 Lando novels, 3 Han and Chewie novels, and one with Luke and Leia...not to mention the 107 issues of the Marvel Comic. ;)

Re: What are you reading?

Somebody mentioned reading Bradbury? I interviewed him (via phone) about 13 years ago. That was back in my talk radio years. I have three books autographed by him. Same for Arthur C. Clarke. I think both of those were in the same year, and that's not including my usual once or twice a year Stan Lee ...

Re: What gaming stuff are you reading?

Tree, I couldn't remember who was doing the Rifts conversion. As for Shane, I've met him many times. He's one of the nice guys in the industry. Of course, there'll end up being many contributors on these projects outside of the main author. As for parsec, several people were involved. Matt Cutter, C...

If you ever go to a convention, Todd will probably recognize your name because of all the shipping he does. He's a lesser known Troll to some, but he serves in many capacities, and his work is the stuff of legend.

Re: What gaming stuff are you reading?

Tree, I noticed you picked up more Savage Worlds goodies recently (Sixth Gun, The Last Parsec, etc.). I've met Cullen Bunn a few times or more. He's the author of the Sixth Gun comic (as well as some Deadpool, etc.). He's a roleplayer, and was familiar with C&C. He met the Trolls in Western Missouri...

Re: C&C and pathfinder adventure paths

That Iron Gods setting has been calling out to me. Just not sure if I want to screw with all of the conversions, etc. I've been playing in somebody's PF Skulls and Shackles game as of late. Hasn't been too bad. I don't have to know the rules (for the most part), and he's been doing it without miniat...

Re: Codex of Aihrde for an Ennie in 2016?

I seem to recall that Savage Worlds (Pinnacle Entertainment) has faired well at the Ennie's. Also, Pulp Hero (Hero System 2005) won a silver. I wouldn't say that HERO System was among the elite. Still yet, I don't put a lot into the Ennie's. Either way, at least we all agree that Codex of Aihrde is ...

Re: Years of CK or DM/GM experience

I started roleplaying in 1982/83. I recall gm'ing Star Frontiers circa mid-80's (for younger relatives), and very poorly I'm sure. Also ran the odd game of Marvel Superheroes and James Bond. Outside of playing, I don't recall that I did much other gm'ing in the 80's. My rpg-ing slacked a bit in the ...

I should've gotten the C&C dice in all colors. Purple, green, and a few others. A friend of mine sold me he's unused set of purple, and I have the pearl?-colored ones. Also have the set from the black box. I almost forgot, I have the green Troll Lord Games company dice. I used to get a few shipments...

I suspect if Starsiege or some sort of sci-fi game were to be re-released or released, it will have to fall more in line with the Siege Engine, etc.

Nobody ever says, "most notably one of Tyler's games..." You must have been desperate. Hell, even I'm desperate to actually "play", so much so that I'm in a Pathfinder/Skulls and Shackles game. Starts tonight. I'll be mentally pissing and moaning that Siege Engine would make things much simple.

Re: Advice on C&C Adventure for a Con

Outside of conventions, I've used (in this order) the following C&C products together for a bit of a campaign. Start with Lure of Delusion, followed by a 1.00? pdf called Wizard's Tower, then move the characters west from the Elkhorn Deeps to the Rhodope Mountains. The mountains are the setting for ...

C&C is very simple to play, and it can be an uphill battle to convert players of other systems. I've had a lot of successes, but some failed attempts as well. Keep at it!

Re: North Texas RPG Con 2016

I'll check in with Troll HQ. It is my hope that we'll return again. I went there as a dealer and demo guy in 2014, then Todd and I returned in 2015. Stephen C. was a guest that year. It's a very intimate gathering. Don't quote me, but Mike Bodolato and Doug Rhea cap the attendance at about 300 or so...
