Re: Questions about magic

Was wondering if the same was doable with spellbooks to spellbooks. One of my players found a spellbook, but doesn't have the money to slowly copy the spells from one book to the other. Why would they need to? Once they learn the spells in the other spellbook; again, Read Magic being required, then...

Re: Questions about magic

I allow the use of a spell book like a scroll with the wipe of the spell...providing a Read Magic is also used unless the spell book was written by the person attempting to use it that way. This is a really good point; I'd been working off the presumption that the person reading the spell actually ...

Re: Questions about magic

Am just going to throw in a quick reply to your first interrogative: To the best of my understanding - and this is largely out of a background with AD&D , although I suspect C&C would not really be any different in this regard - the answer is yes; you can read spells out of books directly. However, ...

...it is tough always being told you are bad because of your race... its like wearing black all the time. Switch to orange - people get interested in you and you get to start cool social trends. I'd advise opening with jumpsuits and maybe move on to kilts...who knows, after having hammered countles...

Re: Monsters & Treasure 5th Printing on Kickstarter now!

I believe he meant Twitch, not Twitter. Thank you for the clarification - tried it on Twitter and ended up being inaccessible. Twitch does work, although the lockups, which can go on for upwards of a minute at a time, are endless. In any case, the information is available, and Steven does confirm t...

Re: Half-orcs: How often do have you seen them used as PCs?

I've never played one, but I have had 2 or 3 playing in the campaigns I ran. The 1/2 Orc Monk is really awesome. Just saying. ~O And such being an illustration of exactly why I'm a big supporter of all races being able to access all character classes. Taking a cue from Star Trek , we've got here a ...

Re: Monsters & Treasure 5th Printing on Kickstarter now!

I take it that the PDF is currently only available to backers of the Kickstarter? The ones on DrivethruRPG and the TLG store seem to be 4th printing. Fair point, BJB; with the small arrangement of Kickstarters I've been involved with to this point (one of them being TLG's Free City of Eskadia ), I ...

Nice! Much appreciated on the present-update statement; while I stand very much by the PDF use, I really prefer something I can hold in my hands. Will be checking the online availability, and hoping the FLGS gets some indication as to definite arrival date/s.

Re: Monsters & Treasure 5th Printing on Kickstarter now!

I am quite aware that it's been a hell of a long time since this thread was updated, but I was wondering if there was any forward progress on Monsters & Treasure fifth printing's arrival date. Mr. Chenault, on Fantasy Grounds Fridays (Feb. 2018) indicated that the book would be a considerably larger...

Re: Half-orcs: How often do have you seen them used as PCs?

Simply throwing this in, but the replies thus far fit the standard that I've seen - in passing only, I would certainly admit - over the years. Half-orcs as the outcasts, presumed evil (or at least undesirable) by nature, or thrown in as pure demihuman wrecking ball capacity (which, properly statted ...

Half-orcs: How often do have you seen them used as PCs?

This is just a general discussion topic, the specific game system ( AD&D first to fifth edition to C&C ) notwithstanding. Half-orcs have always struck me, based on previous gaming experiences, as the outliers/outcasts of the Fantasy RPG realm - they're either left in the dust as an untouched PC race...

AD&D Second Edition: Anyone Do C&C Conversion?

This subject may have been addressed previously, but does not seem to have crossed into the discussion boards in a fair while, at least from what I can see. To begin with, AD&D second edition never really struck me as a "full" new edition in the grand scheme of things; sure, several game-engine poin...

Dark Sun: Anyone Used C&C Attributes to Smooth Play Out?

Okay. First of all, for those unfamiliar, I have been a Castle & Crusades geek since the Player's Handbook second printing, and have kept up (mostly) with the current and ongoing publications, and have contributed to Kickstarters. I will state that, since '00, I've had less and less contact with and...

Re: Buying Castles and Crusades in southern Ontario?

Jman5000 is definitely correct regarding the Toronto situation; Hairy Tarantula is absolutely the best option regarding pick-ups in this area. The problem is, of course, that it's central downtown and there are traffic issues, parking charges and so forth. If you can get down there on a weekend, thi...

I have been out of communication here for way too long, but wanted to note that C&C has never been far from my mind; I recently picked up all my missing issues of Crusader and have been enjoying the reads from all involved. I also grabbed the Players Handbook fifth printing, and was very pleased to ...
