Re: A good, free, digital Sci Fi magazine..

I have the FFE CDs for all of the first four editions of the game. I went this route myself. I have been buying PDFs where available and replacing my hard copies of a lot of my collection. Something kind of fun about having most of my library (some books still not available on PDF) on a few CD ROMs...

Re: DTRPG CKG PDF update

Those of you who bought the CKG PDF through DriveThruRPG, be sure to look for the recent update - there's a shiny new PDF of the 2nd printing. That's some good customer service right there. I bought the 2nd printing from them and was surprised to find they left the 1st printing available as well. S...

Re: Attribute Rolling

I was doing it this way before "point buying" was a published thing. I never understood the need for that complexity rather than just giving a proper amount of total points. :?: The point buying system allows you to weigh the values. Thus the shift from say 10 to 12 might only cost 2 points for a t...

Re: Attribute Rolling

Nice without getting "out of hand". The player still has tough choices to make but can make a decent & fun to play PC of any class. That si one of the things I id like about the 3.5/pathfinder point buy system. By giving the player a number of points it allowed me to control the overall "power" but...

Re: Attribute Rolling

You bring up a good point. What ever we do, it needs to be consistent. If the characters are too different it could cause issues for the GM trying to challenge the "party". I just allow everyone 74 points to arrange as desired. That is the average of 4D6 drop lowest. So I could do 15, 15, 12, 12, 1...

Bought and signed up for their news blasts. Some of the past bundles would have been nice to have bought as well.

Thanks for the tip/lead. :D

Re: Wikipedia Question

Rather, you will probably have more luck poaching players from the 5th edition crowd. So far, the group that has shown the most interest in what I have found is the long term Pathfinder people. I think Pathfinder has gone through their golden age so to say and the rule bloat is causing some of thei...

Nice. I have used used 17, 16, 15, 12, 11, 10 a few times myself. Keeps them from being too powerful at the beginning and yet they are very much above average.

Not sure if it is errata, but the file I have has two sets of book marks, like they duplicated them in error. Both sets work, just no need for two. :D That was one of the updates, getting rid of the extra set. Well then, done and done. I am having fun reading this. I found the first few p...

Re: Attribute Rolling

Just give them all 18's. No min maxing, everyones characters are "equal", and as I have mentioned before, still easy to kill. While I would love to try this just once for fun, I find that if my stats are too high it takes away from the game a little. I like to have one or two stats above normal, bu...

They decided to keep both copies available to us, the customers. BTW, they have already done two updates. So in a day or two, you may want to DL it again to get the most corrected version. Re: Wikipedia Question

I am a wiki editor and could add or change it, but C&C is not a retro-clone game. Those games listed are simply clones of earlier D&D games. :) And yet, it was a list of Retro-clones that helped me find C&C. I think many folks list OSR and Retro-clones together. Interesting. I'm wondering wh...

Wikipedia Question

So I was sharing with a friend how much I liked Castles and Crusades. He was interested. He went to Wikipedia to see what it had about the game. He called me back and pointed out that on the Wikipedia list of OSR games C&C was not listed. I went and looked and sure enough, it lists several of the ot...

Re: Attribute Rolling

Decide with your players what type of characters you want to play, normal folks (11.5 average), better than normal (13s), heroes (16s), or super heroes (18s). As the CK you will balance and make it challenging for whatever the group is and how you interact your PCs with the other NPCs is also up to...

Re: Great bundle for GM/DM/CK's....

The company that made the PDF's has been around for along time, the books in the Bundle came out during the 3E D20 time frame. As for the "Bundle" people, I have bought a half dozen or so Bundles from them over the last few years. You actually get the PDF's via Drivethru. Oh I know who Penumbra is,...

Are they doing this for charity?

Have they done other "bundles" in the past?

Re: Move and Attack - How about Attack and Move?

I always struggle with players who pick one class and really want to play another. If you want to play a front line fighter, then select one. Don't select a wizard then be shocked you can't treat them like front line fighters. It is odd. But, under prodding I usually find a wanna be munchkin who wa...

I think we are all agreed. We, as parents, have to insure our children learn what they need for the future. I believe our local school has some good people who try, with the restrictions they have, to teach what they can. I try to enhance where I can or find tutoring where I can't. And as for my hob...
