Re: Short Video of a famous gamer's basement

Just stumbled on this video from a year ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7FxkHgBLEMY&list=UUEKR2CgzS34sGfTR3LogRTg With a short preview of the sights of Lake Geneva. Looks nice, but a bit cold out Chicago way, Rhuvein! Nice to see the locations that are part of a hobby that impacted my life so ...

Ok some of those are just down right worrisome. ;)

I happen to like the rats in the basement talking to each other. I also liked the masked woman, dressed in black velvet rumor.

Re: Who do you have in your retired/unused pile?

Not counting PCs made but never used, I have about 75 or so that I have played at one time or another. I don't count PCs not played because I, like others here have expressed, enjoy creating various PCs for the fun of creation. I went real crazy with HeroLab and my Pathfinder files. This does ...

I have always thought of myself as human. I don't see myself fitting any of the stereotypes of the other races.

I just fit the human stereotype of being all over the place in my actions and thoughts. ;)

Hmm, very interesting. Which products do you have so far? Just curious. Not counting the three core rule books (PHB, CKG, M&T) and the M&T of Aihrde, I own so far: Heart of Glass Night of the Spirits A0 A1 Back to Blacktooth Ridge (Yes, I know now this was a redundant purchase) Return to Blacktooth...

Is there a list of what products are d20 vs what are made for C&C? I am not sure how to tell from looking at the item itself. Any guidance would be helpful. Thanks :D What items and where? Re: Race as Class

The more I hear about this the more I'd like to see a "race as a class" write up for each of the core classes.. so what's stopping us, lets set up a page or thread for each race/class with level advancement that works within and in parallel to the classes in CnC... Start with say the Dwarf? All kic...

Re: Greetings from South Jersey

Might I suggest you also read the spell/casting rules as 5th ed D&D used them. I like the way they handled it. It limited the number of spells while not doing the old "Oops, you already cast that one" mind set.

Check it out. :D

Re: Race as Class

The less ham fisted solution is to have a GM who knows how to run a game. A person wants to play an elf who acts like a human? GREAT! Wait till he interacts with elves. LMAO While I like this way of thinking, I have seen less and less GMs who want to/can run games the way you are describing. It see...

As far as I know Castles & Crusades never had race as a class, there was never a loss there to begin with (?). I was not speaking of C&C. Anyway, if you really love Race==Class + lots of choices (as long as your choice isn't an Elf), it's taken to its logical extreme in the first several (all?) Re: Race as Class

Careful with your terminology here because the evolution of D&D is a bit tricky. Having played some version of D&D since 1976 I do have some experience with the game. While I respect the attempt to break down and track each and every "version" of D&D, I didn't experience D&D the way it is now descr...

Thanks for the replies folks. So far, reading the answers I see; archetype reinforcement, tradition, and race limitations. None of these are bad reasons, but I can see where others might not agree. Interesting. Let me add that back in the day, we were given 6 attributes and rolled 3d6 for each, un-m...

Race as Class

Over time I have meet several people who lament the loss of Race as Class. I have seen it spoken of here as well.
