Re: Humans in Funny Suits

It's just that some people actually stress the Role Playing aspect of RPG's... Ok...just cuz I'm feeling frisky. Role playing, in a game: I come to a path with a fork, and I get to choose left or right. I'm playing a role. The orcs decide to burn some outlying farms. I can choose to either ...

For who, I wonder. Understand, I'm not trying to be a douche, but if the players are having a good time, who cares how they play them? No one ever said RPGs were supposed to be some sort of literary excercise.

Re: Humans in Funny Suits

Nothing wrong with having a "default" stereotype at all. If I have a new player that decides he wants to be a Dwarf, and uses the assumptions and points of reference from the LOTR movies...just because he thought Gimli was cool, that's fine with me. Just means I don't have to devote precious time an...

Re: Humans in Funny Suits

It also reinforces a certain kind of sword and sorcery feel to get rid of the elves and hobbits and the like. True enough. Although to the 99.9 percent of the population, swords and sorcery is anything with wizards and warriors, be that LOTR, Conan, or even the legend of King Arthur. Its all good a...

Re: Adventure conversion question

Thanks again for the replies. No worries letting them know that its a threat - PCs are well aware of the Goblin Vamp before they get to him. He doesn't just pop up like a jack in the box. I wouldn't do that even if the PCs were significantly higher level. But, I don't think I'm gonna make the guy a ...

Re: Adventure conversion question

A quick look in my VERY dusty 3.5 MM shows that the Dire Bat has a bite & grapple attack. NO claw attack. So, nix the claws. You know its funny, after I made my post, I double checked the SRD (all my 3.5 books are long gone) and I didn't see a claw attack either. I thought that maybe it'd just been...

Adventure conversion question

Ok so I'm going to run DCC 28 Into the Wilds as a kickoff to my campaign. I found the mod in the bargain bin at the comic book shop, flipped thru it and thought it sounded like a lot of fun, so I grabbed it. The adventure is written for 3.5. So my question is not so much about converting monsters fr...

Re: logistical issues with monsters

Remember too that you'll develop it on your own after a while. But yeah, the three things Fizz said HP, Atk Bonus, and damage are all you really need...although AC is pretty important too ;) So my little encounter sheet/card will look something like this: (and don't be proud...just write it out shor...

Looking for a big dungeon :)

Hello all. Been away from gaming for a little while, and am just starting up again for my kids. One thing I've noticed is that I don't have the time to create this stuff the way I used to, so I'm looking for some help. Basically, I'm looking for a big dungeon where I can just borrow little sections ...

Re: Rejoining the Crusade in London Ontario

Absolutely. I mean, at this point, I'm just throwing together a game for my kid, and maybe Mom and another friend. The beauty of playing with these guys is that they haven't been exposed to all the old cliches yet, so I can really let it rip :) And if it takes off it takes off. I'd love to meet othe...

Re: I can't use published settings anymore

Sounds like you're putting a lot of pressure on yourself man. Just remember that the PCs can only inhabit a small area of anywhere. As long as you can be clear on that area, who cares? Avoid scenarios that are all-continent/world encompassing and you should be fine. (Which is where a lot of guys los...

Kudos...I like what the Trolls have done with the place! :)

Hey all. I took advantage of the bundle sale there a couple weeks back and got my new books in the mail today. I picked up the Classic Monster book, M&T of Airhde, and a new PHB. (Some of what I say might be old hat for guys who've stuck with the game since day 1....but I've been away a while.) Just...

Looking for a decent blank hex map.

Can anyone help me here? I've been scouring the interwebs in search of a decent blank hex map, and so far I've been coming up empty. Best I've been able to find is the Judges Guild one, but each hex has a number...and I don't care for that. Aside from that, the best one I've found has the hex lines ...

Rejoining the Crusade in London Ontario

Howdy all. Well its been a while. Been out of gaming for a couple of years....decided to get out of the hobby, sold all my stuff....kicking myself for it now. Had a whole boatload ranging from AD&D right up to 4th....mostly 1e and 2e. (and don't ask about my Wilderlands box set and a few things that...
