Ask yourself has my mage cast fireball more than my thief back stabs?

Natural 20 on a back stab.... does it do extra damage?

Sneak Attack is so weak... might as well let the poor class do it all it can that's reasonable... back attack aka backstab is rare too.

Not much is needed, but I have not done it too often.

There is a Domesday 8 I think (if not 8 then 7 or 9) which has guidelines for conversions.

Cleric Spells

So every cleric of every god has the same spell list with no variation... Granting access to some but not others, dipping into druid, mage or illusionist spells to add uniqueness. I would love a custom spell list for each deity... in the days of Priest 2.0 I did just that... access to spheres varied...

Great Scimitar

This thing does 2d6 like the 2-H sword. The bastard is d10 but 2-H d12. How is the Greater Scimitar NOT a 2-H weapon?

Is this a troll type-o or is this intentional and thus simple the most 1-H damaging weapon on the list?

Thoughts?

Here is a proposal... wizards research and learn spells all the time... a new spell to them is new... all laid out and ready to use from a book or scroll... but why should making a new one be SO costly and expensive... if the PC is willing to do the work and the CK to check it, let the PC make them ...

Speaking of Cutting both ways, A) We were just playing a game where the head assassin (Ruke?) came out of a wall, natural 20 on his back attack with powerful poison on the blade, and the CK gave 2x damage (likely the FG machine did this) for everything.... the guy went from full h.p to negative with...

In my history, back attacks and assassinations are rare... same for a Monk's Death Touch.

But I'm playing a game where the CK allows the thief to back stab anytime they are in the back or can get at the back, no surprise needed.

I wondered what got so many folks back tot he boards to post.... to bad its a old memory.. look at other spells of second level power.. +/- 50% size limit on growth.. so let that be a guide to sizes... "natural creatures only" also seems like a guide, by natural I mean mythic without a tone of spell...

1 of 10 seconds in the round is "no time", I would agree. The 3 of 10 seconds sounds like a half move then some other action allowed with the half move. I think that might be what you state... but 3 sec should not be a full move and thus no other actions that round.

Good for you, the more you get involved the more fun. Creating themed special spells is in the game's history (Tenser, Otto, and many others I never spell right). Really new and novel are hard to come up with, but cool changes are nice too. A green wizard who's spell affects are all green... simple....
