Re: Minis painted by jdizzy

Here are some 20mm Zombies I painted for DMMike. This is the first time I painted in 20mm. I think they turned out really well.

Re: Minis painted by jdizzy

Officially, it is Sauron. But, he will be a great stand in for any big bad villain I need for a campaign. Thanks for the comments!

Alchemist class

Has there been an alchemist class created for c&c? For my campaign world I want to have a lower magic world which uses alchemy as opposed to arcane powers.

Quest for the Tesseract

All cards on the table, I haven't role played in over two years, I was working on a Master's degree in Social Work with an emphasis on individual therapy. Well, I'm done with that now and have suddenly found myself with some free time. So, my son and I started a brief campaign. I borrowed from Mario...

Re: Redefining AC, roll for defence

@dmmike, You're right, the dm should be actively strategizing and indicating which monster is attacking. The ck shouldn't ever feel detached. After all, they are telling the story. @aergraith, it may not be perfect but if npc's are fighting each other (IE two monsters fighting each other), that shou...

Re: Redefining AC, roll for defence

Interesting take on the variant. My only response would be that a DM doesn't need to feel a part of the action. The PC does, but that is a personal opinion.

Re: Redefining AC, roll for defence

Yes, any checks would be made by the PCs. This variant puts all the dice rolling into the PC's hands. They roll to attack the monsters, they roll to defend against the monster's attacks. The NPC blocks have all static numbers so the CK doesn't have to roll anything, except damage (If they want).

Redefining AC, roll for defence

I borrowed this idea from Numenera. It goes like this: Players roll everything. I finally tried it and it works real well. In a nutshell it works like so: RAW, the player attacks as normal, they roll, add modifiers and compare it to opponents AC. Defending attacks changes, however. Instead of using ...

Re: House rules how much do you use? do they change often?

I keep house rules to a minimum. All the "house rules" I use are recommended alterations from either the phb or ckg so I don't think they actually count as house rules.

Re: Proud owner of the Savage Rifts Players Guide!

I find the concept of balance intriguing. What players mean when they say balanced is that power levels are equal in combat. No one cares about power levels outside combat. Balance matters in board games where the rules rule with an iron thumb. RPGs are different. I think if people were less concern...
