Au'rune rides closer.

"I've seen the map. Keep the rising sun on your right and setting sun to your left: that will do you well enough. At least as far as the map is concerned."

He slowly turns his horse to continue on the trail north.

<t>Case by case is a good way to rule. Combat is more lively than static counters or miniatures on a map. Those games can be fun too, but C&C doesn't tailor to that style of play (although there is nothing stopping someone from writing houserules and making it that kind of game.) If someone want...

As Sphere addresses the trio, Au'rune rides slighlly to the side, although still within earshot. He doesn't make any hostile gestures, but it is obvious he is checking for anyone else. Once satisfied, he leans against the neck of his horse and listens from his position on top a small slope.

<t>Okay that make sense, especially the counterbalance to the saves vs spells. This is something I hope the CKG addresses and explains. I can at least see an argument for the counterside, although I'm going to have to think about it some more -- and more importantly, play it some more -- to decide i...

How To Run Rising Knight Dungeon? [Spoilers!!!]

<t>All right, I little history on the games I've played. Although I started with 1ed AD&D, I never played 2ed. I went to other games with very crunchy mechanics, such as Hero, GURPS, and Interlock / Fusion. When I played dungeon crawls before, I was 10 years old, naive, and everything worked in ...

<t>I've said -- and still believe -- that C&C is not suited for a game ruled by Fortune (i.e. luck of the dice.) D&D 3ed is and so is Hero. A lot of the "game" in those RPG's is to manipulate the Fortune, and for many it is very rewarding. I enjoy those games too, but it is not what I look f...

<t>Yeah, I think that the above is a reasonable way to think about the SIEGE mechanic. So why didn't they include? I think (pure speculation, mind you) that if they included it many players would interpret it that they should be rolling for it and thus make C&C into a roll-fest and have the game...

Personally, I'd allow all three classes to ascend the rope. I realize that climbing a rope is much harder than it looks, but not for the heroes in my game. <t>Exactly! Please see my post on page 3 of this thread.<br/> <br/> The mechanics of d20 encourage the player to manipulate Fortune through feats. C&C demands we use Karma and Drama instead. However, we cannot deny that rolling dice is fun. D20 makes no excuse and encourages it with flat results...
