Re: TLG 8127 Rune Lore (Preorder)

Some of the email addresses we have on file may not be proper as the book was 439 years late! ;) I didn't get the mail and my email address hasn't changed in 440 years, sooooo... I emailed you a screen shot of my preorder. Let me know if your records, ah, have no record of me please. UPDATE: Got it...

Re: Wizards of the Coast Low Profile at GenCon

I harbor no particular ill will towards 4e (I have all Essentials books, the red box, and PHB 1 and 2) and play it now and then, albeit rarely. However, Pathfinder is our primary game and I play it as much as 3 times a week (between 2 home games and a PF Society game at the FLGS). I guess what I'm s...

Curious, does this mean they shrunk actually ("grown" from a whopper to 1/2 whopper) or was this a typo? I know Paizo continues to push hard for FRPG dominance and is a real contender vs. WotC and D&D.

Re: Myth & Magic (2e retro) Kickstarter

For those of you that haven't been part of, or keeping up with, the Myth & Magic kickstarter, this thing is tanking like the Titanic. The player's guide funded over a year ago (May 7th) and is now 9 months past due for its backers (myself included). The author keeps going radio-silent, sometimes for...

My first thought is, "Instead of converting, why not just play Savage Worlds Fantasy?" I'm not saying that to be snarky, I mean it sincerely. Savage Worlds is a great system, and if you enjoyed it, why re-invent the wheel? Get the Savage Worlds Fantasy book and off you go. :)

Re: How much do coins weigh?

I'm starting a new campaign today. The PCs have hired henchmen and I'm trying to figure out how much treasure they can carry, between backpacks and treasure chests held on a pair of horizontally held poles. The CKG lists how many coins each thing can carry, and it has left me scratching my head. To...

I can vouch for the "holy crap what a cool monster book!" factor, as I own a hardback copy. His "XX" books are amazing too.

You know what would be cool? Improving on the PHB. I know that the book is made "in the spirit of the AD&D PHB," but this book could really benefit from some more detail. An index for the love of pity, equipment descriptions (no one would know what a godentag was if it hadn't been discussed here), r...

Except that "alteration" is still not illusion, And, it still is not an evocation (according to G.G.). Thus, an argument, based on effect type, can be made for any of them. Re: Continual Flame spell level

Indeed, according to the AD&D 1e PHB, the 2nd level Magic-User spell "Continual Light" is an "alteration" There ya go. The spell can fit into several different schools. Except that "alteration" is still not illusion, which means it should still not necessarily be easier for an illusionist to cast. ...

Re: Continual Flame spell level

Checking the SRD, however, shows us that Continual Flame is in fact an evocation , which would make it much more challenging for an illusionist to cast. Naw, 3.5 had a problem with not following its own schools. Clearly an illusion of a flame. Not an evoked item. Hmm... So in the absence of detaile...

Re: Continual Flame spell level

This spell seems to fit the Illusionist better the the Wizard class, it being a spell that creates an illusionary flame. It is thus odd that it is a 3rd level Ill spell while only being 2nd level for a Wizard... My only disagreement with this point of view is the idea that the flame is illusory. RA...

Re: Loss of Knight status

Unlike Paladins, most Knight abilities are not by the grace of the gods, but by training. I'm not sure I'd take anything away, since knight is just as much a matter of title as it is abilities. Probably not helpful since I'm not really answering your question, but to me it seems that role playing th...

Re: From sword to bow and viceversa: how long does it take?

If the person wants to literally drop the bow and draw a sword? I'd wouldn't care as the GM and wouldn't penalize, time wise, the PC. If you want to drop a sword and use your bow? Well, you probably have to string it. 1 round for this one. +1 For me, only if there's some reason to think the bow is ...

how's this different from a Curious Volume of forgotten lore that he did? Very, very similar, but packaged up into a single coherent game, rather than a collection of options. Re: Question on magic item damage/level use

Sounds like the reasonable solution is for the CK to assign a caster level to any spell-based item and call it good. The CL would designate the spell effect (duration, damage, area, etc).
