Re: Knight's Battlefield Dominance

Each of the three abilities can be used but once per day. The use of Battlefield Dominance doesn't take away those individual once-per-day uses. Presumably this means that Battlefield Dominance itself can also only be used once per day, though the ability doesn't specify this.

Re: Can Barbarians attack and intimidate contemporarily?

The rules as written for the ability, at least 4th printing, do not require the barbarian make a check. They require the opponent to make a save. The barbarian only need to perform some action, and continue to do so, for the duration. Ah, a keen observation. This forces me to rethink my "it's an ac...

Re: Can Barbarians attack and intimidate contemporarily?

I agree. Since it's a specific action, separate from an attack, I would treat it as the barbarian's action for that round. Imagine the barbarian spending the round unleashing a litany of harsh language and threats, after which he launches his attack against the now-intimidated target(s) in the follo...

Re: Weapon Bonuses inconsistent

Ok, the Hook Sword has a bonus to "overbear". I see no overbear mechanics in the game. That's an SRD artifact that didn't get caught in editing. Nope. The rules for Overbearing are on page 131 of the 4th and 5th printing of the Player's Handbook. OVERBEARING This type of attack is used to knock an ...

Tracking is a ranger class skill, that allows rangers to track (natch). It works like any siege check (it's a WIS check, IIRC).
Correct, it's a Wisdom Siege check.

Re: TLG 2013: What Would You Like To See?

It may be a great book but I still have a bitter taste in my mouth from the whole thing. So much so, I have still refused to buy it. Whether that changes remains to be seen. I really like the CKG, and I "came onboard" just at the tail end of that whole thing, so I didn't experience it. My kickstart...

I don't want to go off on a rant or anything, but...I'm about to go off on a rant... I've recently become very disenchanted with som...

Head to your nearest fabric store and buy a sheet of vinyl-coved material (Naugahyde) in a size and color of your liking. Take away the grid and a battlemat is nothing more than that.

Re: Yr Wyddfa CLs?

I think what Aergraith meant to say is that a CL should be, you know, "5" or "8" or something roughly equivalent to an opponent's HD (or similar). The CL, in other words, should be added to the CB to come up with the CC. So if you assume a CB of 12 or 18, then a CL of 15 or 17 would be a CC range of...

With that out of the way, however, I did want to address the concern about the Thief that was raised. Though it's true that, as written, the thief's skills don't improve, they are accomplished on a fairly impressive 4 in 6 chance (3-6 on 1d6). From first level on, the Thief will nail his skill chec...

Re: Reload time for crossbows?

I allow the use of a cho-ku-no like device which is a pre-loaded "clip." This modifies the weapon to reload one per round for 6 rounds but decreases range by half; damage remains unaffected. Any crossbow (except hand/pistol) can get it. Costs 400 GP (800 for the heavy version) and is considered "ex...

Re: Reload time for crossbows?

I use the "industry standard" for this. Hand and Light Crossbows can be loaded and fired in the same round (assuming no movement takes place) while Heavy Crossbows take a round to load and can, thus, be only fired every other round. I generally assume that to load a heavy crossbow the bowman must at...

TheMetal1 really hit on some of the things that have made C&C and Labyrinth Lord so popular. They have that "1st Edition feel" the way most of us played it.
