Yeah i have seen the 3.x version of magic item creation.... it leaves a funny taste in my mouth. I agree with the idea making an item should cost a wizard, but the idea of losing xp to make an item feels really wrong. The cost guidelines they lay out are ok... The entire D20 way of doing it reminds ...

I agree on the spell list. Most of, if not all of the new illusionist spells seem terrible to me. Consider that i judge a properly played level 1 illusion to be no more powerful then any other level 1 spell. Then extrapolate that to mean any illusion spell can not simulate a more powerful spell leve...

Has anyone tried making class specific character sheets? Since each class has definate powers that come as you level. Seems weird to need to write in the skills everytime you a rogue...etc... There are no plus 1 blades in my game ever.

Every magic weapon in my game has a name and some kind of power in addition to any bonus to hit and damage it might recieve.

Most of the weird D&D races have been translated to C&C.

I just made a ruling in my game that every magic item must be unique.
I dont want wizards churning out plus 4 rings for the whole group.
I dont want every fighter with vorpal swords.

I feel every magic item should be an endever to create an item of pwer, no two can be made the same way.

I also limit illusions to replicating equal level effects, fireball is 3rd level spell. illusion of fireball can be lower but expect more chance to disbelieve

Yeah i used AD&D for clarification all the time.

I would say no.

I remember in AD&D 1st ed you could stack : prayer, bless and chant. But that was it.
