Houserule question

I was thinking of implementing the following houserules in my already heavily-houseruled game of C&C and would like to get feedback on these (especially from Treebore and his players, who are playing with my houserules): Challenge Base/Primes: I was thinking of setting the Challenge Base (CB) at 13 ...

Re: Favorite Characters You've Played

Thrain Sturlisson, dwarven cleric 4/fighter 4 of Clangeddin Silverbeard that I played in a C&C game set in Greyhawk. He was one tough, resourceful bastard... with a 16 CHA to boot! One of my favorite moments is when I had him befriend a group of drunken gnoll (buying rounds of drinks and making sure...

Re: Illusionist healing spells

Some great points have been made on both sides. Thanks for chiming in everyone.

I'm surprised with how the voting has gone so far. I thought illusionist healing was far less popular than it is (1/2 of the voters so far are in favor of keeping it).

Re: Illusionist healing spells

I could understand if shadow-magic were being used to effect healing. In AD&D, for example, illusionists had access to demi-shadow monster , shadow magic and demi-shadow magic which allowed them to re-create conjuration/summoning and evocation spell effects. By the same token I could understand a 3r...

Illusionist healing spells

So, if there is ever a 5th printing of the PHB, would you want the illusionist healing spells removed? For the record, I'd vote "yes" because I use C&C to emulate D&D and the change to the illusionist class don't fit in with any version of D&D that I've ever played. Sure, I could (and do) houserule ...

Re: Skills - Do I have this right?

C&C is all about flexibility and molding the game to suit your needs. I'd work it like this: Using abilities and/or skills that your character has: Add your full level bonus Using abilities and/or skills that your character doesn't have: Don't add your level bonus* * Unless that ability/skill is tie...

Re: Awaken....

I'd give awakened creatures INT, WIS and CHR, just as in 3.X. Sure the druid can awaken trees but that doesn't necessarily mean that they'll follow him. If that answer doesn't help, I'll give you my version of Animate Plants and the Animate Object spells (1/2 the listed movement rates to approximate...

Re: Clerical Domains for your C&C Clerics

Thanks garydee. I hope people get some use out of this. At this point, I'm not using these rules in my game but will probably, gradually incorporate them into my game as my campaign continues. For now I'm keeping the rules relatively simple so that my newest player (my wife) learns the ropes.

Re: Clerical Domains for your C&C Clerics

Cleric Domains In the simplest version of the C&C game, clerics serve religions that can be generally described as "good", “neutral”, or "evil." Nothing more needs to be said about it; the game will play perfectly well at this level. However, a CK who has taken the time to create a detailed campaig...

Re: Anyone Play "AD&D 3rd Edition"?

PHB errata update:

I fixed a grammatical error in charm person (I used "him" in place of "he").

I've added the spell crystalbrittle from the original Unearthed Arcana.

Right now I'm plugging away on my version of Unearthed Arcana.

Re: Anyone Play "AD&D 3rd Edition"?

Your system partially compensates for this by delaying wizard equivalent spells to the psionicist until later levels, and only allowing a limited list of powers (to which the psionicist cannot easily add, unlike the wizard who just needs a spellbook or scroll). But I still think it would work bette...

Re: Anyone Play "AD&D 3rd Edition"?

A few things did not seem balanced quite right. One I noticed was the psionicist, which is one of my favourite classes. I was thinking of playing one, but Treebore and I both thought the way powers worked could be a bit unbalanced. Although I should note we never played it, so I don't know how it w...

Oops, sorry Chris. I don't mean to say I don't like the rules. They are very well thought out and well written for the most part. Not a problem.
