Re: new C&C edition vs D&D Next

I don't want to be sitting around the table arguing with my players about the way we will be playing the game. I think the core rules sets the expectations of the players and a one size fits all approach sounds like an elephant in a rubber tu tu? GURPS does the modular thing, pretty well and it is ...

Re: Is it too late for PH & MT corrections?

From what I can tell, if you make some assumptions clear- regarding fantasy settings- then it becomes clearer. Assumption one: Each intelligent race, within a fantasy setting, has one language they share within their race, regardless of geography. Assumption two: There is a wide disparity of populat...

Re: Will the color Monsters & Treasure have a new layout?

Well know body really knows except for Steve and Co. But, I'm putting faith to it as them doing a whole new layout (Bigger fonts etc.) is one of the few times they will actually be able to "start from scratch."

With the bigger fonts, I wonder if this means a rebirthing of the digest books?

Re: Will the color Monsters & Treasure have a new layout?

Nobody really likes to assume things, but sometimes it is O.K. to do. With the announcement on how they are going to handle the PH, and assuming they are going to want the M&T to resemble the PH, I'd say it is a safe bet that the M&T will get the same treatment as this seems to be the whole purpose ...

Re: Wild animal loose in the city...

You could have them investigate the aftermath of cat attacks on NPC's. Maybe some close calls where the cat is found and escapes. Maybe a NPC that doesn't see eye to eye, with the consensus and believes the cat shouldn't be killed but caught live and released to it's normal habitat. They could be at...

Re: Monster and villain tactics

I've Dmed/GMed for many decades and I'd say the most important thing that evolved out of all those years was giving NPC/Monster/animal's a personality. If it was am intelligent species, I treated the encounter as though the characters are noticeably interacting with intelligent NPC/Monsters. The per...

Re: Question about the latest Kickstarter

The PHB will be in full color -- that funding goal has already been hit. Going full color on M&T is right around the corner, so I'd be stunned if we don't get M&T in color, too. They haven't announced the stretch goal amount to make the CKG full color yet. I wouldn't be surprised, at all, if the Ki...

Re: Question about the latest Kickstarter

The 5th printing is not that old. In my opinion, a little too soon for another printing. I think you are confusing the words "print" and "edition". This is not a new edition. As was stated above, this print run has sold out and a new print run needs to be done to stock the shelves. I take it TLG is...

Re: Multi-genre game? What?

GURPS is "multi-genre". Have no idea what this is possibly about. So is CORTEX and Savage Worlds, but yeah, no idea what this is about. It would make sense for it to be based on Star SIEGE, since that had already done a lot of "tool box" type work to enable the SIEGE engine to be used for a variety...

Though as also noted, if you can't find players it may tip the scales the other way Sure that is always an consideration, but might I add that there are opportunities that exist. Re: Crusader 27

At this point I'd settle for a quarterly magazine. Bump up the page count and bump up the cost. Make it a more financially feasible for TLG. I'd pay $5.00 + shipping. Maybe even a little more depending on how many pages where added. Once every 3 months seems reasonable. Print + pdf options, would be...

Re: How do people handle spell components?

For the most part I totally ignore spell components. To be honest I was never that enamoured with the vanican system D&D uses. In the early 80's I was exposed to Chivalry & Sorcery and when I played a Mage in that system I felt totally liberated.

Re: 3D printed metal dice.

After taking a quick look, it is apparent that some of these dice are going to be REALLY biased in rolling due to having more metal on one side(s) than others. I'd never let them be used in a game. Yeah, I should've put, "For dice collectors." I was once a dice collector and had many sets that wher...

3D printed metal dice.

If you love funky dice there are new(ish) sets of 3D printed metal dice that you can find here at Shapeways. These are some of the coolest dice sets I've seen to date. (I understand that they do plastic dice also.) Here is a video of the process to 3D metal printing. It doesn't show them making the ...

Re: Help us decide what to put on our screens!

I may be in the minority (I hope not.) but I'd find the "Light Underground" table to be useful. It is one of those rules that I think I'd use a lot if it was right there, on the screen. If it wasn't on the screen I'd probably end up not using it as I try not to flip through books, searching for rule...

When I added it to my cart it said something to the effect of it's a scan-to-print thing; so expect blown-up scanned pages and nothing added; hopefully not every blotch of ink and bleedthrough. I don't know who owns what rights to those old games anymore, so I don't know if any of that is possible. I am pretty sure WOTC owns them, if they were made by TSR. I know they own Star Frontiers, but at least they have been cool enough to allow for that website where all the old and new stuff is a...

I never played Gangbusters or Bunnies and Burrows, so don't think I'd have any interest simply because I know nothing about them, other than looking at them back in the day. Gangbusters was a fantastic game. There was some rumblings a couple of years ago about the creator doing a second edition, bu...

I believe Haunted Highlands is its own setting, not really connected to Airdhe, though one could probably easily drop it somewhere in that world if they wanted to. HH is a part of Airdhe. Most of their RPG stock is several years old. They don't stock anything new except Pathfinder. It's depressing to go in and see the exact same items that were on the shelves five years ago.
