Re: Anyone else getting this?

Yup. Troll Lords are working on it. I think it has something to do with the amount of forum usage vs server space? :) It was a tight a fit when I moved it, so it's no surprise that it comes back to bite. Hopefully they [the hosting folks] can up the filespace limits with out charging a huge amount....

Re: Familiars

I've seen the old d20 version although I do not own it. I just looked at the Pathfinder preview and it looks like it has lots of tasty info but it's not really the direction I want to go with my game. I'm very interested in seeing a C&C version of course :). Things this makes me think about. I like ...

Re: Familiars

Next I'm wondering about Cleric/Druid Familiars. I was thinking of a 3rd level Druid spell to promote an Animal Friend to Familiar status.

Also should there be a limit on the Hit Point bonus received from Familiars? [Does Orcus have a Ancient Red Dragon Familiar that gives him 408 HP? ]

Familiars

I've been spending some thought cycles on Familiars for my group lately. The first thing I've come up with is an Illusionist Familiar spells. Thought I'd post it up to kick of the discussion. [Most of the text if straight off Summon Familiar but with "Shadow" added.] SUMMON SHADOW FAMILIAR, Level 3 ...

Re: Conversion of Material from other games??

I could add that since I don't allow multi-class at all I just pick the best single class representation of the NPC/Monster and go with that. I happily change stuff like Aristocrat to a real class that fits the NPC's position and or Alignment. [The Thane of Norborg is an Assassin in my game.] Add or...

Re: Conversion of Material from other games??

I've been running Castle Whiterock for my group over the last year. [They are About to enter the Immense Cavern] My advice is to sit down with each level of the module are do a short write up of all the monsters you want to keep. [Don't be afraid to get rid of things that do not fit or are to hard t...

Re: Question about the Druid's totem shape ability

--Raise Dead Thread--

How about the duration of the Totem Shape? It says as Polymorph Self which if it applies to duration would be 10min/Level... However the 3rd SRD says 1/hour per level and AD&D had no specific duration that I could find.

Any thoughts on duration?

Re: Magic items and Animals?

I probably made the question to specific, it should also ask can Monsters wear magic items as is. Can a Troll wear a Ring of Protection, how about a Giant? Rings are assumed to "auto-size" and so do other pieces of Magic.

Magic items and Animals?

I was stating up an NPC who had a Worg companion and it got me thinking about magic items and animals. In the old days I [we] generally allowed items to be crafted specifically for animals, or for high level casters combos of shapechange or polymorph any object could be used to get items to fit corr...

Re: CKG PDF pricing disparity needs fixed...

Of course it does seem to selling just fine. It's 3rd on rpgnow and was 2nd yesterday. I think the window to change the price has closed, after so many sales they would also have to do something for those who were willing to buy at the original price. At this point they just have to let it ride, per...

Re: Experience and levelling

I still use the old "character can not level more then once" from an adventure. So an extra XP is lost. This is an old AD&D rule , and it tends to slow down the rocketing in levels that happens when low level characters adventure with high level ones. Still you should probably give it as a % or even...

Re: AC bonus of Black Dragon armor?

Good point.. Ac 18 base and Ac 24 in my example above. Your 1/2'ing probably makes it a bit more useable in the context of the dragons AC as a determining factor. [In my game I'm going to stick with it's a raw material that has some properties that are easy to enchant, ie resistance based on dragon ...

Re: AC bonus of Black Dragon armor?

That's pretty tough stuff. If you normally limit enchantment to +5 or +6 it means the Dragon armor would be by far the most powerful stuff around. Full Plate Armor +6 would only be AC 14 but a Suit of Ancient Red Dragon Armor would start at Ac 28 and hit 34 with +6 enchanting. Seems a little too muc...

I went through this recently with my party. I basically handled it as raw material and let the armorer give them various options. At the minimum it should expert work so x10 the base armor type. Since the material if pretty rare [at least in my game] enchantment seems to be a natural requirement. Th...

Re: Illusionist healing spells

Of course in someways illusionists have healing already via distort reality, granted it is 8th level and the best they can get is cure serious wounds, but it is there. I think if I add this in I will shift up 1 level and drop heal, then it seems about right. I don't think they should have Cure serio...

Let's not forget AD&D had dispel exhaustion, that along with limited wish and wish allow enough wiggle room to bring in arcana healing. So I'd say leave it, although I have yet to use it in game.
