Re: What are you reading?
How is this version of Blackmoor? What system is it written for, if any? I liked the DA module series, again because I thought the lore was pretty cool. Only "Temple of the Frog" was really good as an adventure. This was put out by Zeitgeist and then in partnership with Goodman Games. It's a fun bo...

Re: Castle Keeper's Guide
I really wanted to like the CKG when it was finally released after years of waiting for it. I wish I could say that I found it useful but honestly I never had much use for it and the tables were kind of messed up with the numbers (bad editing). As a curiosity it was fun to read in part, but overall...

Dave Arneson's Blackmoor. I'm reading it mainly for the lore.

Re: So what world setting do you typically run C&C in?
I use my own campaign setting of Krysonia, which has been cobbled together since the late 1980s. Last fall I hired Glynn Seal from Monkeyblood Design to make nicer versions of my old hand-drawn maps, which you can see here: https://monkeyblooddesign.co.uk/2020/10/25/krysonia-leng-commission/ As you...

Re: New Group (pronounced "OLD") via Internet.. start up advice???
I'd vote for Zoom. Far less hassle than all those crappy VTT things. You can just share screen for dice rolls and you can have a gallery where you see everyone. But I'm low-tech. And to be honest, I haven't actually played on a VTT; just seen some of the videos on youtube, which make them seem pret...

You could run a Planet of the Apes type setting, there isn't any magic but psionics exist (see Beneath the Planet of the Apes). Apes Victorius by Goblinoid Games https://www.lulu.com/en/us/shop/daniel-proctor/apes-victorious/paperback/product-1dj5qrqp.html?page=1&pageSize=4 could easily be converted...

I never tried Haunted Highlands, I've heard good things about it, that it's very swords & sorcery but I missed the books when they were in print. Also, Hallowed Oracle but I know very little about it.

The way I see it is, the half-elf is only getting two primes, so you may as well give them the +2 to those charisma saves.

I'm not sure what you guys are arguing about, is it that the racial modifiers to attributes should be removed or kept?

Re: Hey There...
NICE, One thing I dislike about Aihrde is the fact they have what 4 or 5 separate cultural feels to the peoples there but only 1 set of deities and the deities don't match the cultures, so I've always kicked around the idea of adding other pantheons. However, I never thought of using the codexes as...

Re: How do you handle multi-classing?
How do you handle the fighter/wizard class and a half? I've seen that one combination can cast spell in armor, the other does not. Do you follow this indication? If not, there are problems? Perhaps it's only if fighter is your half class and not your full class that you cannot wear armor and cast s...

Re: How do you handle multi-classing?
I don't allow multi-classing anymore. I like the simplicity and cleanness of one character, one class. You're one mean DM...:) I also only allow the 1st-3rd printings of the PHB at my table 8-) What changes does that entail? ...Or prevent, I suppose. The main difference is the barbarian class and t...

Re: Screw it...
Huh, interesting. What happened in the 90's to drive that? A lot of people had issues with TSRs behavior and what Lorraine Williams did with the company. I was in High School until 93 and lived in a small town with no real access to anything beyond what the local comic shop would have. The closest ...

I have, ran a lengthy online campaign set in Mystara here on the forums years ago.
I started it with the orange cover version of B3 Palace of the Silver Princess and went from there.
(Which is available for free at Vaults of Pandius btw)

Nothing wrong with that, the CK is supposed to have fun too! And if you aren't really happy with the setting you are using, you risk CK burnout or worse, a failed campaign.

Re: The C&C rule(s) you dislike or ignore...
Pardon me, but that's an awful lot of mental gymnastics to justify illusionist healing. The Trolls are clearly backtracking what the illusionist class represents after their changes. Another reason why I don't like the 4th printing of the PHB and beyond. I find the explanations in the CKG regarding ...

Re: The C&C rule(s) you dislike or ignore...
All party member know the illusionist can cast a healing spell – s o they know it’s just an illusion . In C&C that is irrelevant. Knowing doesn't help you save or not save. The spell in REALITY causes the wounds to heal. It isn't an illusion. "The illusionist version of the spell acts in the...

Re: The C&C rule(s) you dislike or ignore...
I think the issue with Illusionist and healing is in how you picture the illusionist and their associated powers. Are they a weak version of a magic user with powers that are simply glamor and tricks of the mind and fooling of ones senses Are they ones able to hide mask bend and change reality thro...

Re: Magic Battles
I fully agree INT is the obvious choice but then it becomes INT prime and level vs the other INT print and level plus some basic luck... would the more charismatic illusionist get an edge? or would the more WISe one have a bonus.... just trying to see a duel of two equals (aka two illusionist) have...

Re: So what world setting do you typically run C&C in?
I've ran C&C with several fantasy settings, including: Blackmoor, Mystara, World of Greyhawk, Áereth (Goodman Games) and Erde/Aihrde (including Inzae).
