Walrus . . for sure! Robert or Steve should definitely stat it out. Wally the Walrus has been on my equipment list (see PHB) in most every game that I've been in for 15 years (diggery-doo as well)! Re: What gaming stuff are you reading?

You're definitely thinking of Archon. The book version of "The Queen's Gambit" is very good, but the TV show is better in every way except the chess. The book nails the chess stuff, especially the final game. The TV show had to make some compromises with the chess to make it watchable for...

Re: What gaming stuff are you reading?

The game of combat chess you fondly remember, is probably Archon. Played a lot of it with my friend on the C64 as well. Good news is that it is on Steam for $9.99. https://store.steampowered.com/app/65400/Archon_Classic/ Organized some of my PDF and Reading a Amazing Adventures Star Siege, Starship...

Re: What gaming stuff are you reading?

I'm deep diving back into chess (again!). This time I hired a coach to try to see faster improvement and to hold me accountable to make progress. I can't how many times I have started reading a chess book and never picked the book up a second time. I've probably read the first 5-10 pages of a hundr...

Thanks for your comments, Sam. In addition to 23 and ancestry, I've uploaded my raw DNA data file to Myheritage.com, Livingdna.com and GEDmatch. So far, only distant relatives show up. From what I understand DNA testing is exploding ~ probably due to price decreases, so if my father has/had other ch...

Re: Why C&C?

Hmm, a few of us wrote up some blurbs about "why C&C" some many years ago ~ and the Trolls published them on their website (might have been the one before this one). I don't see it featured on their now main site. I couldn't find anything whilst searching. The blurbs/reviews were funny...

Re: On dungeon mapping

For online games, I do the mapping via maptools – it’s fast and easy and keeps the game moving along. Face to face games, I let the players choose who and how they map. Recalling - playing in Gary’s OD&D game some years ago, we had a mapper and a caller. But Gary was not strict about how we/him ...

Re: Dungeons of Aufstrag

Thanks for your replies! I think I might be confused as I'm looking at the PDF and trying to remember what I read a few years back. The Aufstrag dungeon is HUGE and the Citadel is very big as well (and all the other areas). The Trolls have "wards" and such and levels within. And I've been ...

Re: What gaming stuff are you reading?

I haven't read anything in quite a while, but picked up the AD&D 2nd Edition ~ Charlemagne's Paladins. Even if I'll never run a real world history game, it's been fun reading so far.

FYI, the Trolls published levels A13 - A17 in the Umbrage Saga Part 3 - so you'd only have to fill in the last 5.

Fields of Battle by Casey is really excellent. Rigon, Treebore, Morty and I played it with Casey some years ago at Troll CON. It was fast and smooth and just loads of fun. Treebore incorporated some mass combat in our online game a few years ago and it worked very well (by limiting the masses, if yo...

Derek, great job on this module ~ I really liked it. Good selection of monsters ( and your new ones are fantastic)! The lesser "deck" is a great idea - because, of course ~ the deck of many things is or can be . . horrific!!! Methinks it wouldn't be hard to scale the level challenge down t...

Ok I would disagree. A FATHER is not the random genetic donor, it is the person that cared for you raised you taught you passed faith to you. Not knowing who the genetic donor is only means you do not have full disclosure on what health risks you may have from genetic issues. But other than that yo...
