Where are all of jokes about Rings of Immunity to Skidmarks? Trousers of Fecal Resistance +4? Under-linens of Absorption? Anti-Menstruation Fields? Or even just a good old Codpiece of Holding?

Check out the point buys systems from 2e. They should work just fine as is really.

Hello, fellow Missourian. I am about 45 minutes south of St. Louis as the Ford flys. It is the Jefferson County government seat. We have wonderful scenery with the jail right next to the high school, makes for convenient transit for current students.

If you are properly running your monsters, the PC's will only have time to worry about pointy things, horrible venom, and vile magics rending their flesh. Something is wrong if PC's start worring about what monster has what save metagame wise....

This isn't particularly SIEGE-like but in cases such as that I do an old fashioned stat check (roll D20, apply on the fly modifiers, if total is less than the stat then the check succeeded.) I would still use C&C stuff for the animated critters though.
