Re: New but also returning (AKA Converting early D&D modules to C&C)
However, there have been times that I had already read the adventure the GM started running. If it is going to be an issue I let the GM know. On the other hand there are times I have just let it go but made sure I DID NOT make decisions or use the knowledge to my advantage. Of course there are time...

Re: New but also returning (AKA Converting early D&D modules to C&C)
Got to say, if I had a player who did that, he'd only do it once in my game. We play to enjoy each others company and the game is what brings us together. Life is too short to have a player like that in our small ring of friends who want a challenging night of gaming and good company. 100% on you w...

Re: Trying to understand Demi-humans getting two primes from a designers perspective
I understand the need to balance the advantages of other races have with their abilities v humans. However, as someone that has HORID dice rolls, the 2 primes v 3 is swinging the pendulum way to far the other way. For my house rule, humans roll an extra set of dice and drops the lowest one, and then...

Re: Cepheus Deluxe ship plan
Nice, I play Traveller, but have borrowed HEAVILY from CD. Especially the CD Ship's weapon rules etc,
I LOVE tail setters. I have an idea for a modified Traveller 2300 setting (only 50 parsecs from Sol have been explored) and tail setters fit the setting perfectly.
Thanks for sharing !

hiya! i am new to c&c and the aihrde setting, and i'm reading through the codices (after winter's dark aihrde codex, and the awd primer too). good stuff so far... i'm slowly falling in love with aihrde. i really wish i had found this game sooner. i am wondering what regions in aihrde are an equ...

What I use: Assessment fee of 50 gp to see if the item to be enchanted is of sufficient quality to survive the enchantment*, Cost of materials x5, 1000 gp x spell level or equivalent spell level of enchantment, and an annoyance fee (500 gp plus how much the 'customer' has ticked off the enchanter w...

Pendragon...good times. A boar was a credible threat. lol Played 3rd ed back in early 90's. Rgr that on a boar being a threat, I remember one adventure (or it might have been a test run on learning the system and combat) I had the party on a hunt with their lord. A boar got cornered and one player ...

Re: Castles & Crusades question - Perception
DrewD, Welcome to the board, always good to see a new face around here. For Perception I do wisdom checks (and yes clerics always have Wis Prime, but anyone can chose it as a prime if they want their character to be good at those things) and I have level added if what they are looking at/for falls i...

Re: What gaming stuff are you reading?
Pendragon 6e Starter Set. I have made a character using the start of the book so far. Next up will be the solo adventure to get used to the sytem etc. I have always liked the idea of Pendragon, and even tried it back in the day (I think it was the 3ed or maybe 4ed version). However, the group I was...

Re: Spell Question - Prismatic Sphere
Not entirely true if you reference back to the 1st edition of the spell though where it was called a Force Field similar to a Wall of Force spell. Another one of those spells that's suffered from edition edits/tweaking. Given that...the 1e reference does specifically state that Teleport, Misty Step...

Re: Permanency & Con saving throw
We home-ruled this long long ago: I've never really liked the whole concept of burning CON for a permanency...even going way back. Same here. I eventually made the Con drain temporary (3 months of R&R) unless they rolled a 1 I never like the idea of the Con reduction, but haven't HRed it. I lik...

I would say outsider is anyone off the plane that you are on or you are native too. Ex Half Orc Paladin from prime material plane would consider anything other than the prime material plane an "outsider"? Ex 2: On the elemental plane of fire - city of brass, a human cleric from prime mate...

Re: 3.5 Tome of Battle
I don't have the 3.5 ToB so not sure what is in it, but that said, I house ruled my fighter class (heck I hred ALL classes & races), and it didn't bread the C&C seige engine mechanics. That is what I love about C&C. I added 'combat style' at 1st level instead of a single preferred weapon...

Some great picks here. My favorites are C1 - The Hidden Shrine of Tamoachan T1 - The Village of Hommlet U1 - The Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh Hommlet is good, but I love Saltmasrh ! Hmmm, tough one. I'll split them by categories/systems: ... B/X X4-5--Desert Nomads modules (X10 also fun, but a bit u...

For the most part a lot of it is hand waived, unless it adds tension to the game (for the one off horror type game, or when the girls' game was doing a high stress cave clear of orcs). Even on those times I don't completely track it. I just use it to add stress as needed at the right time "as y...

Isn't 'outsider' a 2nd or 3rd edition category for dwellers beyond the material world, not including undead, so elementals, demons, devils, and so forth? That is what I always assumed it was. I ruled any evil or neutral demon or 'outer plane' dweller was effected but an angel type was not effected ...

Best / Favorite Adventure ?
So, last night's Monday Night Ne'er-do-wells game didn't happen, but we had a great BS session. One thing that came up was various lists of 'the Best Adventure Module' from different surveys lists, followed by how many good modules came out for Basic v 1e v 2e etc. I'll admit that I under remembered...

just got an email pointing to this: https://trolllord.com/product/cc-character-manager/ I wonder if one can program alternate ability score modifiers and what not? Now that is a good idea. I preferer some of the CKG modifiers to the standard btb, so if that is an option I'd be more interested in it.

I went in on the first day to earn 7 books in PDF format. I'm there with you . I have all the old books in hard back, and it will be good to have them in a good pdf version, at least to have them easy access. Plus, I want the Trolls to do more C&C and GG stuff and get away from primarily 5e foc...

Re: What gaming stuff are you reading?
Thanks to the GM Day Sale on DTRPG I've been going through an eclectic mix. Some of the old Forgotten Realms 2e books, I forget how much I LOVED FR back in the day, especially the Gray Box time frame, until I start rereading FR stuff (not the 3e or more recent stuff). Then some Traveller - 2300 v2 s...

Re: What boardgame(s) are you playing?
A few weeks ago I had to work late and on a Saturday, so I was brain fried and the scheduled RPG night had to be switched to a board game night. We ended up playing Mountains of Madness. First time to ever play it. However my girls had watched a lot of 'how to play' on youtube so they understood it ...

I'm a first-time CK getting ready to run this as a one-shot for my local TTRPG group, and as I'm building pregens for it, I'm wondering what level to do it at. I know it says for level 1-3, but I was hoping for more guidance right that. Right now I'm building characters at 2000XP so some are at lev...

I've ran 1e & 2e adventures with C&C. You just have to change the AC and modify the spells a little. It is easy enough to do that for the most part I can do it on the fly with min notes.
I've only idea mined 3e and 5e so am not spun up on using C&C for them.

Re: The Black Death as an encounter/situation for PC's
After reading many first hand accounts from the first half of the 2nd millennium; From Japan to Africa to the British Isles. I came up with simple "encounter data" that is pretty accurate as to probability of catching, dying or, surviving this event. When entering an infected inhabited ar...
