Re: Adventure ideas – Gaslight & Urban

You could take a page outta film and go full MIMIC (giant man-eating humanoid cockroaches) on 'em if wanting the crowded unwashed dirty city horror vibe. Cross that with a bit of Dr. Moreau as a creator aspect... It has been years since I saw Mimic, I'll have to give it a re-watch. If I remember co...

Re: Adventure ideas – Gaslight & Urban

Now, what ideas for bad guy opponent(s) should I use. What adventure ideas do you all have for an urban gaslight adventure ? Have you got the Baker Street: Roleplaying in the World of Sherlock Holmes book, "Sherlock by Gaslight" - that might scratch your itch for both things! I like the c...

Adventure ideas – Gaslight & Urban

So, my girls and their friend decided they want their October one off to be a gaslight era urban setting adventure. I am running them through a Call of Cthlulu / Delta Green game every 4 th adventure, so they know the CoC system, and I have the Gaslight rules for it, so that will more than likely be...

It has been years since I have read it. I may have to re-read it and see if I like it as much as I used to. I know back in the day I'd have jumped at it. That is why we gave Space 1989 a try.

Re: Castles & Crusades Reforged?

3. That being said, a lot of the spell names seemed to be just change for change's sake. "Bestow Water"? I'm not sure even WotC would consider "Bless Water" a hill they wanted to die on, if something like that could even be claimed as OGL language. Others like "Magic Missil...

Re: Looking for Abyssal City Maps

Hey Everyone, I'm looking for a couple city maps that I could use for Abyssal cities. They can come from games other than C&C; I just want cool maps. One city will be built on a cliff (like those Indian dwellings, but higher tech). Another will be a vast interplanar marketplace. The third will ...

Pendragon type passion v Alignment

Admittedly, it has been years since I played Pendragon, and even then I didn't ever play a significant amount of it. So this might come from a romantic remembrance instead the reality of the game. That said, I have always liked the idea of the game's Personal traits passions – virtue v vice. 13 diff...

Re: Your dream campaign

I want so badly to run the Masks scenario for CoC, but it involves such a huge time-sink for me as GM, and that's before even starting - you have to have read and digested the entire scenario before starting in order to do it justice and not be caught unaware during play. Oooooooooo yeah that is a ...

Re: Time Tracking

For rounds, I use a big novelty die where everybody can see it, and I roll it down by 1 each round. For tracking longer periods of time, like hours I use a 3x5 card. I mark the margins 1-12 to represent the hours of the day, and make columns of AM/PM. This allows me to track time in 10-minute inter...

I used something like that when I made my C&C / Hero's Journey mash up home brew. Some classes weren't changed that much, but on things like the cavalier's inspire etc, paladin's smite evil, lay on hands , it mad a difference. I ended up only using those rules once on a one off game so I don't k...

However, there have been times that I had already read the adventure the GM started running. If it is going to be an issue I let the GM know. On the other hand there are times I have just let it go but made sure I DID NOT make decisions or use the knowledge to my advantage. Of course there are time...

Re: New but also returning (AKA Converting early D&D modules to C&C)

Got to say, if I had a player who did that, he'd only do it once in my game. We play to enjoy each others company and the game is what brings us together. Life is too short to have a player like that in our small ring of friends who want a challenging night of gaming and good company. 100% on you w...

Re: Trying to understand Demi-humans getting two primes from a designers perspective

I understand the need to balance the advantages of other races have with their abilities v humans. However, as someone that has HORID dice rolls, the 2 primes v 3 is swinging the pendulum way to far the other way. For my house rule, humans roll an extra set of dice and drops the lowest one, and then...

Re: Cepheus Deluxe ship plan

Nice, I play Traveller, but have borrowed HEAVILY from CD. Especially the CD Ship's weapon rules etc,

I LOVE tail setters. I have an idea for a modified Traveller 2300 setting (only 50 parsecs from Sol have been explored) and tail setters fit the setting perfectly.

Thanks for sharing !

Not entirely true if you reference back to the 1st edition of the spell though where it was called a Force Field similar to a Wall of Force spell. Another one of those spells that's suffered from edition edits/tweaking. Given that...the 1e reference does specifically state that Teleport, Misty Step...

I don't have the 3.5 ToB so not sure what is in it, but that said, I house ruled my fighter class (heck I hred ALL classes & races), and it didn't bread the C&C seige engine mechanics. That is what I love about C&C. I added 'combat style' at 1st level instead of a single preferred weapon...
