Re: My failure at a horror game

Horror can indeed be tricky, but it does sound like you handled yourself very well as the Keeper of the Lore. The biggest issue, generally, with investigative games is the players missing or misunderstanding a clue. Have some alternative ways for some important bit of info to reach them if they deci...

Re: What's up

I am a huge advocate of forums - I run a LARP/RPG one and moderate half a dozen more. Over the last ten years I have battled endlessly against first facebook and now discord as the preferred medium. Both of those are great but they are both transient. Once a conversation goes back more than 100 post...

Re: A0 - Rising Knight - #01 - Finding our feet.

Okay, so he has Magic Missile :) And that is a 1st lvl wizard spell. All good :)

He probably called it a fireball and I obviously rolled with it and then it got lodged in my brain as a fireball :D

Good catch though!

The reason I was asking about their level is because you stated that one of them cast a fireball spell which is far beyond 1st level.
I'll have to check that then! I let them gen their own characters which they are all pretty competent at doing (normally lol)

Re: There's THUNDER on the TUNDRA!

No, I get it. I wasn't trying to be mean or nasty and I tried to be polite in my post. Random web/video links could go anywhere and be anything. Think of those people (like me!) with kids walking around randomly behind when you're pottering on the computer. It's polite to say what a thing is and why...

Re: There's THUNDER on the TUNDRA!

I don't know about anyone else but I consider just posting a random YouTube link with no text at all with it total spam. That video could be anything. If you had been a new user with 0-10 posts to your name I would have instantly thought it was spam and (on the forums I own/moderate) deleted it and ...

The only animal / teddy that I own is a little black and white dog with floppy ears called Scamp. My daughter's currently switch between owning him for a spell each. My wife has two near identical rabbits which are now totally fur-less and have been worn thin and hole-ridden through constant thumb s...

This is A0. They are level 1 and should be throughout A0, though I am not one for skimping on XP and give them session XP too. So we'll see.

I liked the Beta rules and learnt from that just the "bare bones". So I can GM a game of ST:A and yet have never read more than a few pages of the actual book.

Does me just fine.

Re: Star Treck RPG

I love ST:A It is a 2d20 system. I mostly use the top (main) layer of the mechanics but there are a lot of extra layers if you are a rules lawyer. I have written two of my own scenarios and they have all gone down well with the group I ran them for, and I also ran some of the "living campaign" they ...

Forums are also good for LEGACY. Discord is basically IRC - as soon as it's off the screen by more than a few lines people forget about things and there is no real search functionality to speak of. With a forum you can search for a post/thread and it is here ad infinitum. Keep the forums for proper ...

Re: Crusader Journal #27 Now Available

Whoever deals with the Drivethru RPG naming should rename journals 1-9 to 01, 02, 03-09 etc so they appear in the correct order. Currently the list of available journals appears as 1, 10, 11-19, 2, 20, 21-27 and it will continue like that, making it look messy. Also, the old mags are still quite exp...
