Fantasy Grounds: Games Played 2018

The chart from several months ago had 5,032 games of Castles & Crusades played to date; the final tally for 2018 puts it at 6,630! Well done! Keep 'em coming, we love seeing more titles in the "Other" category grow in number!

Re: Diggery do

OK so as a resident Aussie, let me first make a correction - the spell in the book is wrong....it writes it as a diggery-do. It is actually a didgeridoo. Just for reference, I did correct the spelling in Adventurers Backpack. Also the Fantasy Grounds edition of the 7th printing Players Handbook. If...

Re: Divine Healing..

One could argue that for clerics healing is "their thing," I'd argue that "turning undead" is a cleric's "thing." If someone chooses (or is forced) to play a cleric but the campaign ends up not using undead and therefore letting the cleric shine with his only exclusive...

Re: Adventurers Backpack Errata

It looks like a lot of the pole arms didn't get marked as 'must be used with two hands' The table notes on ABP page 44 (as well as PHB page 63) explicitly state "Weapons marked with an * must be used two-handed." All the polearms are marked with an * in the Weapons Table. If we missed any...

Adventurers Backpack Errata

Overall I think we did a good job catching most of the usual oopsies that get through. There is still a big channel for errors to creep in, and I'm hoping to eventually bring the process into the proper industry order. Here's what we've got so far: First release of the PDF had several _GoBack bookma...

Re: Merging C&C and GUMSHOE

At its core the GUMSHOE "system" is a solution to one problem: stalled investigations. Call of Cthulhu, or [insert d20 game here] games usually involve skill checks or whatever, essentially pinning onto a die roll whether the investigation continues or stops dead in its tracks. We all know...

Re: Seeking help with the old modules original content

I haven't retrofitted one of the ancient adventures myself yet, but all the advice I've read on doing so pretty much match what @g00gleplex wrote: If a C&C version of a monster exists, use that. Converting descending AC: Subtract from either 19 or 20, depending how tough you want the NPC to be. ...

Re: Writing Adventures

I vastly prefer the concept behind modern adventures over the old stuff I started with. This doesn't mean all modern adventures are good, and certainly not all of the old ones were even decent, much less "good" once the rose-colored lenses of nostalgia are removed. Back in the Day™ I had a...

Re: Adventurer's Backpacks - EV ratings

The book contains obviously, new classes -- including the Rune Mark and their runic spells from the recently discontinued Rune Lore book. New gear which leads directly into the eponymous feature: backpacks, which are collections of equipment to more quickly equip your characters without having to &q...

Re: Adventurer's Backpacks - EV ratings

Thank you! :) Tim finished building the new PDF a couple days ago and posted it on DriveThruRPG for the KS backers. I haven't gone through it with a fine-toothed comb or anything but at a super-quick glance I'd guesstimate that 98% or more (not quite 100%) of my proofs were accepted and 97% or more ...

Re: Adventurer's Backpacks - EV ratings

Part of the initial confusion on my part was the table layout, which Steve has already corrected on his end, and I've adjusted my spreadsheet to properly do the math for the EV, ignoring all the internal contents and only using the pack EV + total EV of external contents. I've been leaving plenty of...

Re: Adventurer's Backpacks - EV ratings

Mmmkay, Plan F (or whatever letter we're up to now LOL) I was just asked to fix the backpack EVs after all. This is not my forte, but I just read the section on PHB p. 67 and I agree with the assessments in the original post, so that will be the basis I work from. I will have to get clarifications f...

Re: Adventurer's Backpacks - EV ratings

I completed my end of things Wednesday night, so Steve has been busy going through it all. For the topic of this thread, however, I felt it was best if I didn't just start making up numbers on my own, so I took off the copyeditor hat altogether and just wore the proofreader hat. Steve and Tim will b...

Re: Adventurer's Backpacks - EV ratings

Haven't been on the forum in a few months, but... I was contracted two weeks ago to proofread and copyedit Adventurers Backpack. I'm intentionally saving that Equipment chapter for last, because all those tables and numbers are easy to screw up on. As I said on their FB post on the topic, I have not...

Re: World of Aihrde and Fantasy Grounds

So, I've purchased the latest printings of: Codex of Aihrde Monsters and Treasure of Aihrde Player's guide to Aihrde and I can honestly say I'm in love with these books. Now, M&T is on Fantasy grounds, and I have it, but the Player's Guide, and the Codex are not. Now, I am running an Aihrde cam...

Re: What I found out from Steve at Gary Con...

My biggest FG complaints don't have anything to do with the C&C content. - Drawing tools: I can make thin black pixelated lines. Also, can I type on the map? - Masking tools: Can I unmask anything non rectangular? - Scripting: Yes, the ruleset does pretty much everything, but what if I want to ...

Re: What I found out from Steve at Gary Con...

...whoever is doing the content is pretty meticulous and it's good quality stuff. What could make it better would be to mention in more in marketing material I guess, and also going above and beyond and taking advantage of the medium -- the maps that are fine for print could be more detailed for ta...
