Re: Reaper Bones
I was in on both of the previous Bones kickstarters. Both of them had delays (which I did expect some of that). There are some great price breaks to be had if you don't mind paying for your miniatures a year in advance. The first one had the better deals available. Not sure if I will do it this time...

Re: C&C vs d20 Materials
Is there a list of what products are d20 vs what are made for C&C? I am not sure how to tell from looking at the item itself. Any guidance would be helpful. Thanks :D The real trick here is that Troll Lord has released many products in both formats. Some of the later C&C releases were done ...

Re: Firefly... what!?
I have ran some games for Firefly but not a whole campaign. We used the Margaret Weis books as sourcebooks but we used the Savage Worlds RPG system instead. Firefly is basically Deadlands in space AKA Deadlands: Lost Colony . So the SW/DL system was developed and refined to a much greater degree tha...

Re: Encumbrance Value for Worn Items
We used it for two months of game play. After four sessions I was still needing to explain it over and over again. I knew it needed to go.Captain_K wrote:The EV system is indeed a bit messy and many avoid it, its pretty book keepish, but some players like that sort of thing, but don't drop it until you try it.

Re: Encumbrance Value for Worn Items
Is the encumbrance value reduced in any way for worn items (like clothing or armor)? I know that worn capacity items like backpacks don't count the items that fit inside them. Thanks. C&C is designed to be house ruled. I honestly recommend that you throw out the entire EV system and use somethi...

Re: Compatability of C&C material
Any other input or advice? I have played and DMed both 5E and C&C. Believe it or not 5E has a lot in common with C&C. Saving throws is one example. :) Sure, everything works a bit differently mechanically but I think you could use C&C adventures with little problems. I would suggest usi...

I require training and it has never caused an issue. Mostly it just requires time and a little money to be spent. So it just advances the calender mostly.

Re: 'Players Handbook, Personalized Edition, 2007'
This sounds like a cool idea in theory. But the truth is I change my house rules before I launch a new campaign. I tailor any changes needed for that campaign and print up booklets with basic background information that every PC would know and sometimes with quest information. Just depends on the ca...

Re: Prepping a Planescape C&C Campaign
I converted a D&D 4E planer game over to C&C and ran it for several months last summer. I highly recommend using the Astral Sea as described in 4E. It works amazingly well since SpellJammer ships can be easily placed there. My campaign was more SpellJammer than Planescape but had many of the...

Re: XP for failed attempts?
I have never awarded XP for failed anything. I am not against such a practice but I never conceived of it. What I have done is award bonus XP for certain things that players have done. Things like keeping detailed adventure records, general good book keeping, and decent map making. Obviously this is...

Re: World make up
I have run games in the Forgotten Realms before and that world tends to be the exception where politicians and important NPCs are generally ridiculous levels. Even the local head of the militia might be 10th level. But that is the exception. It comes from campaign sources more-so than my desires. Or...

Re: The C&C class you play the most
Surprising to see cleric at the forefront. Clerics are pretty strong in several D&D editions and I think they are just fine in C&C as well. I would much rather play a cleric than a rogue. It seems the rogue (outside of Fourth Edition) is one of the weaker classes that folks insist someone p...

Re: The C&C class you play the most
I usually am the Dungeon Master for C&C so I don't get to play much.
The only character I have played under C&C was an elven Wizard / ½ Fighter. I chose this only because the group lacked a wizard. The campaign lasted until nearly 7th level before it went on hiatus.

Re: Anyone roll ability scores btb?
I allow my players as a group to choose between two methods: Table Array for the Campaign or Point Buy Individually . With a Table Array each player at the beginning of the campaign rolls 4d6 drop the lowest for one attribute roll. I record them on a master list. Then each player can arrange those s...

Re: Would you like to see any of the C&C adventure series'..
I would 100% not buy it. Honestly, I think the Troll Lords reprint plenty of stuff already. I own the modules I am interested in and have no desire to purchase them again. Yesterday, I stopped by my local game store on the way to DM to look around for inspiration. I found a ton of Troll Lords module...

Re: Do you use the Castle Keepers Guide?
I voted "No" because the question is too broad. I have read it before and attempted to use bits and pieces of it. For the most part I don't use it but I have referenced it. I have used advantages in one campaign but not as presented in the CKG because I don't care for that presentation. It...

Re: How do you have your players roll hit dice?
For my recent Forgotten Realms C&C game I awarded maximum HP at both first and second level. Then for levels 3 to 10: I allowed them to roll twice in front of me and take the best result. I wanted some randomness to the hit points to feel "old school" but not so much to grief anyone. C...

Re: Printing Differences in Player's Handbook
I definitely recommend version 2009 or later. Also Monsters & Treasure is the combined DMG and MM basically. The Castlekeeper's Guide is a book of a lot of options and isn't necessary to enjoy C&C.

C&C The Three Sisters Kickstarter
I have been pretty happy with my items that I have received from the C&C Kickstarter from June. But it has been a while and I was trying to jog my memory on what was still on the way. I jumped in on the full $240 level. These are the items I don't recall getting yet: Castle Keeper's Guide in Pri...

Re: Black Box classes in action?
Looking at them, I assumed that they were mostly intended to be NPC classes, for CKs to create memorable henchmen, since they all seem to be somewhat overclocked versions of the core classes. They seemed all over the place. The Thief seemed like an "Essentials" or "Basic" versio...

I've read through the majority of the black box classes. Some of them are cool. Some...well, I simply don't know. Now that the products been out for a little while (granted, a very little while), I was wondering if anyone has any table experience with these classes. If so, how have they fared? I re...

Any suggestions on magic items besides potions and obvious cleric or druid healing stuff to keep hit points on the PCs? For my Forgotten Realms C&C game I used an adapted Shock Recovery rule from Judge’s Guild Ready Ref Sheets, 1978 . The adapted rule worked like this: After fighting in an enco...
