Re: Missing 1st Ed Cleric Spells

great input, since this post we use not only cleric, but druid, conversions of any spell to that many d8 of healing + level + WIS bonus. lets our PCs play and we slipped in the idea of short rests after fights to get back a small amount of hp as well as some spells too. Bandage up, rest, repair stuf...

Re: New Group (pronounced "OLD") via Internet.. start up advice???

Thanks for the input, the initial night went very well. We used free Zoom which for free extended our first game.... you have to own it, luckily one of the team owns it and will host the zoom meetings. so that part is pretty good, I have to make some more "dark line", maps and images I want to get a...

Re: Half-Elf Empathy bonus

I think we all failed our Empathy check here... if we're not careful... It is a minor thing, and I would bet many even forget they have it, not sure how often it has come up in years of gaming.. but its good for the PC to recall it and try to apply it whenever they can.... then the DM must decide, b...

Re: First time CK looking for advice

Welcome to CnC, lucky for you the boards seem to have a bit of a resurgence... I was DnD in the 70s to the early 90s then tinkered with it and gave up at 3.5.... with that back ground I like the use of mini's at the table and people all around... but as you so well point out, many of us are distance...

Re: The C&C rule(s) you dislike or ignore...

So, if the class spells are good, possibly without healing, and one wants another INT based, no AC, low hit point class... but dislike all the baggage of Illusionist... well, let's rebrand that bad boy.. So, what are some possible character class names that would fit the class better, with or withou...

Re: One class and a half question and rules for 0-Level Wizards

if they do not get first level spells, how do they get the bonus? Its a nice 0 level gift, but it is outside how the mechanics work.. personally anyone trying to play a mage in any form at 1st level, let alone 0 level, should get a bonus!

I like the idea of renaming the illusionist to drop the decades of baggage... brilliant!

So lets all toss some names in the ring to "rebrand" the much maligned illusionist...

Re: Magic Battles

I fully agree INT is the obvious choice but then it becomes INT prime and level vs the other INT print and level plus some basic luck... would the more charismatic illusionist get an edge? or would the more WISe one have a bonus.... just trying to see a duel of two equals (aka two illusionist) have ...

Shsh... do not tell my PCs, but I'm going to have two illusionists "sling mud" at each other via prestidigitation one sends an illusion of a ball of mud at the other... they make a roll and can catch, control, change and send back... the looser get's muddy or wet or whatever effect was just sent and...

Re: So what world setting do you typically run C&C in?

Books by Cecelia Holland are great setting or idea sources for how to blend history with first person choices and involvement with a bit of Irish and Norse "magic" and cultural beliefs.

Re: So what world setting do you typically run C&C in?

What I like best is you can bleed in real history, Greek philosophy, astrology, early tech that really happened, use real maps images, so much is out there. Players can come from and use and learn the histories of their PCs... everyone can contribute and research as they desire.

900 AD or there about, world as it was but all beliefs and mythology are real, each to their country then over lay kind of a global "middle earth".. then everyone can be what they want.. We are coming fast to the conclusion of years of gaming, the final games linked to The Tower of Virtue are upon us... New Group (pronounced "OLD") via Internet.. start up advice???

Going to get my old HS group to play over the internet (we were from 1984)... I am going to use two lap tops and my phone to see me and the board and do close ups of mini... Going to use hard dice and trust all rolls.. Discord or Skype or some such... for voice and video (I think). Got to TRY to get...

Re: How do you handle multi-classing?

The PHB is pretty straight forward for multi-class and the class and a half... the half class does start to fall pretty far behind in its class abilities and it forces much more math as to what roll and bonus is what. the rules for what classes go with what are reasonable.. (fixed and deleted, had t...

Non-glossy (this isn't Glamour Mag), Black ink clean large font (times new roman 12 pt), on white paper, ideally high cotton content with leather binding... made by master Gnomes... if we're going to dream, dream big.

Anyone try tweaking it not to be separated by 6 points? More like 4 or 5 point difference?

Also, Does anyone else just make everything a challenge of 18 and if you are using a prime, take a +6?
