Re: So what world setting do you typically run C&C in?
I have never used the same world setting while running C&C campaigns. My first C&C campaign was homebrew--a seedy port city I call Stormhaven My second C&C campaign was Haunted Highlands My third C&C campaign was Aihrde My fourth C&C campaign was an aborted attempt at running Los...

The Stone Sky, by N.K. Jemisin, the third book in the Broken Earth Trilogy. Excellent author and interesting science-fantasy story about the end of the world with moments of brilliance, but overall has been a challenging (if not rewarding) read.

Re: Optional Secondary Skills in the CKG
I keep it simple and always add character level to any SIEGE check.
The PHB and CKG offer contradictory guidance in this area, so to me, the simplest solution is the preferred solution.

Still not a peep. Do you guys not like 5E, not like AA, not like the combo, or just don't look here anymore? :( I supported Amazing Adventures during the Kickstarter and picked up all the core books, but I guess I am just not that interested in pulp style roleplaying games. I thumbed through a good...

What was the name of the C&C megadungeon that I think Tylermo was talking about in episode 1?

Re: gaming first for me
Nice! I ran a Castles and Crusades campaign at Armchair Adventurer while I lived in Honolulu. We played for about a year. None of my players had played C&C before either, but all had a great time.
Let us know how it goes!

Re: Ugly gnomes
It's definitely a dumb reason to have a beef with what even the reviewer admitted was otherwise an okay game that promised hours of fun. I never even realized the dog-faced creature in the PHB was even a gnome. The description in the race write-up left it pretty open as to what they might look like,...

I believe Three Sisters was highest funded. Can't remember what Aihrde ended up with, but I think it was close to this one.

Re: Adventurers Backback Kickstarter
I have went in on several TLG Kickstarters (Three Sisters, HH, Aihrde, Codices, Amazing Adventures, Victorious), but I haven't pulled the trigger on ABP. I guess I am just not that excited about a book of new classes, spells and prepackaged equipment lists and their associated cards. As others menti...

Yes. Very nice sale indeed!
This was a good opportunity to scoop up a bunch of titles I had been eyeing for a while, but was waiting for a blow-out deal to pull the trigger on.

Reading 1st edition AD&D Players Handbook (Premium reprints). I have read this book before, but am going through it again...taking a trip down memory lane! Lots of interesting things in the book that I either never noticed before or glossed over. Re: Dark Eye... I played a demo of it during Free...

Re: Quick Question concerning Class-based NPCs
I use the quick and dirty approach advocated by several other posters in this thread: bump up a monster's HD and select a few class features to graft over the top. I spent far too much time in my 3.5 years building class-based monsters and got that well out of my system.

Late to the discussion, but over the past week and a half I received two separate boxes loaded to the gills with Kickstarter items from the following campaigns: Three Sisters, Aihrde, and Victorious. If/when you get this game up and running, I am interested in playing. I have actually never "played" C&C before as a player, so it would be neat to see it from the other side.

Top 10 Tips I Have Learned GMing and Playing PbP Probably the first lesson learned I will pass on is to remember PbP is an entirely different medium than face-to-face and it would be a mistake to try to recreate a face-to-face gaming experience in a PbP game. Too often ...

Re: House rules how much do you use? do they change often?
I don't have many house rules and only add them if I encounter a game mechanic that is slow and cumbersome or is confusing. Fortunately this isn't really the case with C&C, as the rules are pretty straightforward and universal.

Re: Introductory Adventure?
Shadows of A Green Sky can easily be played in a 4-hour session. It was part of the Free RPG Day a couple of years ago, though I think it is now available for purchase. It's a pretty neat little adventure that would work well for convention play.

Re: Liitle Birds: The Game Breaks Down? The Math is off?
For what it's worth, I haven't noticed any issues with SIEGE engine over the four years I have been playing C&C. The only slight tweak I have made to the rules as written (RAW) is that I treat all class skills as prime checks, regardless of whether the character has a prime in the associated abi...

Re: Are you running a regular face to face C&C game
Just wrapped up a year long, face-to-face C&C game that started at a Meet-Up one shot at a FLGS. Technically I am still running a C&C game for my two kids (ages 8 and 7), but we play maybe once or twice a month. I wrapped up the C&C game so I could perhaps play for a while, since I norma...

Re: Who uses the Aihrde setting, or think they will use it?
I have been using it for my gaming group for the last year. The area I have been using is the Crusader Kingdoms. We started our campaign at a village of my own creation located between Malforten and Hrueset and the campaign gradually migrated to the Ludensheim area. I used elements of Blacktooth Rid...

My FLGS is primarily given over to board and non-collectible card games, with a very small selection of RPGs. The entirety of the in-stock RPG selection fits on a 3 shelf rack (about two feet wide). Mostly 5th edition stuff, but a small selection of core books for the current, well-known RPGs (i.e.,...

Well...another thing to consider is simple courtesy. Flipping rude to be invited over to do one thing then spend half your time not participating. The key issue with tech at the gaming table is that its use does not become disruptive. It's no different than the players who build dice towers, doodle...

Re: Cell Phones at the table
Doesn't bother me if players look at their cell phones during a game session. There is usually enough downtime within a game session that is doesn't really make that big of a difference. I can't recall a single issue where the game was held up because of someone looking at their phone, so I don't ma...

Re: TLG Portal
No real interest in a monthly subscription service. I opted out of a similar service WotC launched around the time they rolled out 4th edition D&D and will likely not bite on it for C&C either. I guess it is a relatively inexpensive way to gain access to the entire C&C back catalog, but ...
