Re: Gripe: book spines not glued

I prefer mine sewn with mangut. Etched in flesh and inked with blood. Pretty much any high quality "leather" cover dated prior to 1900 is made of human skin. It was considered to be far superior to pig skin, etc... because of its much finer grain. So the higher the quality the leather book was cons...

I just got the digest flip book in the mail, and it is AWESOME. Great thing for travel. Placed it in yet another one of my subway bags with some dice and it's ready to go!

Part of it also lies in the ideas of the Warrior who defeats the Evil Wizard or spellcaster found in fairytales, sword and sorcery, and other movies and books. For example, with Conan...With all the things he faced he must surely have a better save than 13 or something...in fact, he must have a save...

Re: Hey guys: which printing were these?

5th printing had the Kickstarter exclusive leather covers. The pictured one was the 2d or 3d printing and was available for regular purchase. When the fourth printing was released, the leather covers were discontinued. I believe the Three Sisters Kickstarter also has leather covers as a perk, but t...

Re: D&D 5th Edition Discussion

Just another observation: For the hobby to grow there will be a need for new players. This means coming up with ways to attract new blood into the hobby. Having been around some of the younger game crowd I can see why WOTC does have certain things in their versions of D&D that older players may not...

More Hardcover Monster Books Oriental Adventures for C&C Arabian Adventures for C&C You're thinking right up my alley. Re: What is a wolf spear?

It sure does. That's almost exactly what I thought it was, at least the point. It also answers the other question I had, which was about length. I was thinking it was a tad longer, but at 7 feet, it's perfect for what I wanted to have, with it strapped to the back when traveling. Don't know if it co...

What is a wolf spear?

I recently created a new character, we'll be playing C&C but in a PF adventure. Had an excellent roll and created a Half Elf Barbarian. (of course my phenomenal roll was proven not as phenomenal when another player rolled something really well (they rolled a phenomenal roll, they rolled something li...

Soooo....they have a kickstarter up....which is duly noted on the Trolls frontpage to the website. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/d20e/castles-and-crusades-blacktooth-ridge-tv-pilot One of the items there is something they call the C&C basic handbook. Re: Magic Saves

Yep, that's what I'd be wanting, where the fighters have a better chance at saving (and monsters, it works both ways...which means the party wizard/illusionist/spellcaster may have to get more inventive in ways to have a spell be effective) against magic and you see progression in having it easier a...

Magic Saves

One thing I've noticed different about C&C and old style D&D is magic saves. In AD&D it progressively gets easier to save against magic, while it really doesn't do that in C&C when you add character level into the mix. I've been thinking that instead of character level added to the save difficulty o...

I think trolllord.com got a recent update on the main page. I'm not quite certain what it is though, because everytime I try to access the main site with IE11, it crashes now. IE 11 is buggy as heck, but this may be something that someone might look into as it really crashes on the main page now. I ...

Re: I think the "Sisters" will make it to "Full color"...

For the record my wife said "no" to upgrading to leather. She was right, I told her how these were the definitive printing because finally all the errata would be addressed, across all 3 books, and she basically said, so that means you will want to use them, since they will be the most accurate? I ...

Re: I think the "Sisters" will make it to "Full color"...

Is the leather genuine? I like the idea of books that look like leather, but I have been trying to avoid buying animal products for clothing or decoration if I can avoid it, and would actually prefer some kind of faux leather. Aergraith, yes it is genuine. They do not offer a faux leather at the pr...

Got the 3.5 ones in leather (and previous C&C leatherettes for PH and M&T) which were very nice. Hoping these are very nice as well. Most of the stretch goals really aren't something ...

Hmmm.... I don't know about my longest running game, I play a system, then play another, then return to the one I played previously. I don't go back to all of them though. Re: Converting Other OGL Games to C&C?

Ironically, I'm doing a conversion, but of a different kind today. Running a few Pathfinder Modules, but using the C&C ruleset for them. I'm not absolutely familiar with M&M, so telling it from more a PF viewpoint. As for stats, I'd say it's a direct transfer if the games are similar enough. CK can ...

Just remember, in PF a first level character doesn't have any money to buy magic items with either. They'll get plenty going through a first level PF module. Thanks, but due to the modules I have, the suggested level for the module is 4th level. I'll be starting them at a level higher then 1st leve...

Re: I guess this could go here, PF modules with C&C rules

Thanks guys. Hmm...replacing the monsters isn't hard for many, there are a few which aren't in the C&C books though. Traps are the easiest, I simply take the level of the trap and use it as a trap finding and disarming in C&C. Most skills in PF are based on a stat, so that's also easy enough to tran...

I actually think that at 15th level that's good, but maybe once they get a few more levels over that (22nd, 23rd, or 24th) perhaps letting them get yet another +1 could also be a nice thing?
