I see that the author himself roams this very forum from time to time ... Any answer about that missing map, Mr. Bowbe ? ;)

DB1 regional map ?

I've got both the "old" DB1 and the "CK's Guide to the HH" and the DB1 regional map seems to be missing from the CK's Guide or am I missing something ?

Yes.
I don't see why not in my personal view of what gaining XP and levels means for the character.
But as a player, I totally respect the GM's choice to use training and "delayed" benefits.

Re: Training for level up

I don't do training in my games. My point is: the characters practice/try/train/research themselves during adventuring and downtimes, and when they level up, it's just an acknowledgement of this past training. So any perks or be benefits gained by the new level is immediately usable.

Re: AD&D PDFs

The just released The Magister, along with others. I just pulled my copy out of long term storage, and it looks very, very used. So I have to decide, scan it myself, or buy the PDF. I bought a few PDFS from Dndclassics.com and they are of good quality. Not just "image" scan but real clean...

I don't know if it's the right place/topic to ask that but ... The forum is very hard to read on mobile devices (at least on my Android phone and tablet), as it seems to "refuse" to change font size/resize its width etc. Is there any chance that a different CSS/viewing can be setup for mob...

Re: I've "relocated" 15 of them...

Because I have a family of 5, who plays C&C, and we bought 3 to 5 copies of every printing. Except the first. Plus I got one or two of the convention only printings. It makes sense. Considering I've already have 3 of those (one 4th and two 5th printing), and I'll probably buy the 6th printing, ...

Re: Rigon's "new" house rules

Which brings me to OHR#2: Clerics & Druids can exchange any spell in memory for a healing spell of the same level. In this way they can memorize other spells and not have to use up slots with "Cure X Wounds"... multiple times. When they need them, they convert to them. Another solutio...

Re: Starting level for a new campaign

I'm a big fan of encouraging players to make full use of torchbearers, porters, men-at-arms, guard dogs and/or henchmen at low-level. Basically fantasy equivalents to the "red shirts" of Star Trek fame. Henchmen also have the benefit of being good candidates for promotion to player charac...

Re: Aihrde Map -- Details on it....

I like world maps with crowded regions (pointed to places described in modules or setting books) and some less detailed areas, left to the creativity of the DM, and his own developments of the setting. One of the best examples I've seen recently is the (partial) world map of Numenera, where a lot of...

Re: Starting level for a new campaign

First things first ... thanks to all for answering. 1st question: are your players experienced? Yes. The problem is : we almost never played in the spirit of OSR. And that's what I want to do now (25 years after I got my D&D red box ;) ). Most of the games we played were far more "easy"...

Starting level for a new campaign

Hi Keepers. I was wondering : do you make your players' character start at level 1 ? If so, do you kill a handfull of them before some survive to higher levels, or try to spare them with (very) easy adventure ? Because, running most of the low-levels modules in straightforward and logical* manner se...

Thanks to all for the input.
Just for the record, I bought and will be using "I1 Into the Unknown: Vakhund".
And I've looked at the old U1 and U2 old Ad&d modules.
And to some of the latest DCC (Dungeon Crawl Classics) modules from Goodman Games (good stuff !).

Low-level C&C adventures (lvl 1-3)

Hi CKs. I'm a lurker of the forum and reader of the C&C books for some time (since 2011) but only recently had the opportunity to run a few games. I've "CKed" only 3 times (with different groups) and I used only "U1_Shadows Over The Halfling Hall", wich is a great short intro...
