Re: Tattoo Blood Magic

Well, I see no reasons why it won't work just fine for NPC's. I certainly don't think any player would even want to try these with those Permanent losses. As for duration, for simplicity sake, I'd make them permanent. For all intents and purposes, they will only effectively last one encounter anywa...

Tattoo Blood Magic

Looking for some ideas, suggestions and inspiration. Check out the following chart.... http://castlescrusades.webs.com/Tatto%20Magic.jpg OK, these abilities are an abstract representation of a type of "blood magic" that an intelligent, homebrew, evil races uses. They are call icemen, but that's not ...

Re: Standard Array?

I'm not saying don't roll dice, I am saying let the players decide how they want to generate their attributes. To give the players true, total, control over creating their character. All my players use a dice method, just they chose which they use, not me. A couple of times I had players just assig...

Re: Standard Array?

Yeah. Still pretty cool. We're not a group that likes to roll HP, but that's a good option. I'm sure I wouldn't ask for your re-roll unless I got a 1! Usually the players ask for a re-roll if thier roll is in the bottom 1/4 of the "possibilities". Example, on a d10, most players so far have only re...

Re: Standard Array?

I will also add, that in my games, we roll 4d6, pick the highest 3, place 'em where you want 'em. Right now I'm planning on allow an attribute increase at level 6 (may add more later). I also allow FULL hit points at level 1. At level 2, you roll your HD, but if you get less than 1/2, rounded down,...

Re: Standard Array?

I do understand why there is all this concern after all these years over attributes, since I started out that way myself, but I do not understand why after all these years (I am assuming everyone here has been gaming 5+ years) that everyone is still so concerned. As was pointed out above, there is ...

Re: Animal Attributes

OK, aside from sending files to someone, here's all three tables (7-4, 7-5 & 7-6), modified to use "fixed" values instead of Strength bonuses. One note, where my charts has "Fighter Advantage" is Combat Dominance in the BoF, use whatever you like for your game. Enjoy... http://castlescrusades.webs.c...

Are, you talking about my chart (with my adjustments)? If so, I sure do. I do plan on editing the superior familiars as well on the fighters chart, so let me do that and I'll get 'em both to ya.

Re: Animal Attributes

I love it when I reply to my own post, lol. Looking at it further (p. 93) I just edited that chart, in case anyone is interested, to flat bonuses. A bit more simple and straight forward to plug in. I kept the Str Bonus column the same, but renamed it to "damage bonus". Then I removed weapon speciali...

Animal Attributes

OK, so the new BoF has on page 93 (fighter famliars) that there is a level based Str bonus to the famliar. So, example, at 5th level, the familiar gets a +3 to STR. Well, how do you determine the Str score for the multiple of animals out there? What is a Hawks Str? or a Polar Bears? I think this col...

Familiars and Attacks

In regards to Familiars (or animal companions) and attacking (or other actions perhaps), can the master of the familiar to something else the same round he commands his familiar or pet to do something, or does it take that players action for the round? I'm assuming animals and familiars actions are ...

Re: Standard Array?

That's pretty extreme for me! Sure, it's extreme, but they're all legal attributes you could get from rolling, though not probable. We know it probably won't break the game (any more than d20) because in d20 games leveling grants stat boosts, and they all end up around there eventually. The racial ...

Nothing wrong with any of those ideas. I'm just looking for a "quick array" for NPC's with attributes. Think I'll add a "Heric tier" and workd with these... Heroic 16, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10 - For those "above and beyond" the norm, the "elite of the elite" Elite 15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8 - For NPCs with PC ...

Re: Standard Array?

I pulled this off RPG.net... 15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8 is the elite array in 3.5 (for NPCs with PC classes, exceptional monsters, etc.), which is comparable to 4d6. 13, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, is the standard array and is roughly equivalent to 3d6. I can actaully use that elite array I suppose. Works for my p...

Does C&C have a "standard array" for the 6 attributes? 6 scores you can take and simply arrange how you want 'em, without dice rolling?

Re: Been thinking about Cantrips...

If Arcane casters get Zero level spells without memorization or limits (as suggesting), why not the Cleric/Druid doing the same? Just to bring this full circle, the comments are great. I think I must agree, open the flood gates, let them do all zero level stuff 1/rd and more or less at will and see...

So the core of the game is 2 books: PHB and M&T. If you had to pick up a third and are looking for some pseudo 1e goodness, then pick up the Classic Monsters monster book too. Between M&T and this one, you've got most of your iconic 1e monsters. Yup, almost all except those pesky trademarked ones.....

Re: Been thinking about Cantrips...

Further, I'm moving read magic down to the 0th level slot. I just don't see any of these spells disrupting my game, no matter how often you can cast them. Hmmm....I had not thought of that, but that might not be a bad idea either. The more I think about this, the more I think I'll do this. Move Rea...

OK, so I ran through real quick and tallied these as best I could, just for fun. Re: A a couple of questions

The first question is kind of dumb but here goes anyway. With the latest editions, do you still only need the Player's Handbook and Monsters and Treasure to get started with C&C? Or do you need the Castle Keepers Guide also? I have the first editions of the Player's Handbook and Monsters and Treasu...
